"The Fix" needs to be fixed.

From the Washington Post (why am I not surprised):

Former Sen. Mike Gravel (Alaska): People don't like angry in their presidential candidates. And, "angry" typified Gravel's performance last night. Gravel called Biden "arrogant", said he felt like a "potted plant" because of the lack of questions directed to him. Taking a cue from Ronald Reagan, Gravel also said that he would forgive the other candidates on stage for their youth and inexperience. Last time we checked Gravel was an asterisk in any and all polling. Don't be shocked if this is the only debate Gravel is asked to participate in.

  • I'm angry. Mike is angry. Being an American---with all of the BS that's going on---how in the hell could you NOT be pissed the [self-censored] off?!
  • Biden is arrogant. What's wrong with the truth being told?
  • Mike was shafted with the amount of time he was allotted. At the start I had no idea who he was (probably just like most people didn't). After his first question, I wanted to hear more and was pissed that we didn't get more.
  • Asterisk? That's what happens when you don't have a crapload of money for your campaign and you're too truthful for the MSM and MIC. Check now, the asterisk should be gone. Mike words consist of truthfulness, not truthiness.
  • The hell he won't be in any more debates! Not if we have any say in the matter...
I really hope the next "debate" is really a *DEBATE* in which everyone can be heard.

SC "DEBATE"

Mike Gravel stood out like a "healthy thumb" He was the only one willing to actually debate except Kucinich. Everyone else just repeated their same old which we are getting tired of even now. The scripted event was a showcase for Obama-Hillary. Gravel needs to have one of those hour long presentations so people can really learn who he is, not just to raise his hand. What a farce debate. Do the candidates pay for all that C-NN time? If so, no wonder they shut out and slight less monied people. Would it be possible for The senator to write a new intro to his book and re-issue it? Lots of great interview time is given to authors. I wonder if Bill Moyers might want to do a program about "BUYING THE PRESIDENCY". He could include marginalized candidates. Maybe a press release by Gravel objecting to his exclusion from NH "debates" could get some air time with Amy Goodman on Democracy Now. I'm sending another check. You go gravel!

Debate

I agree.  It seemed to me the only people who really wanted to be there and "debate" were Gravel, Kucinich and Clinton.  Everybody else seemed really bored with the whole thing and probably just wanted to network.  Gravel is apparently supposed to be on CNN on Monday during the "Situation Room."  Alex posted an update about that sometime this weekend.  Speaking of money and democracy check out the Greg Palast book "The Best Money Democracy Can Buy" and there's also a video of it as well.

"Yond Cassius has a lean and

"Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look, He thinks too much;  such men are Dangerous."

I am SICK and TIRED of the media trying to tell us what to think, what we "want" and how to act.  They have it all wrong.  They are collectively trying to take away free-thought by their inferences and reaching generalizations.  I will not stand for it.  Let us never forget the words of Edward R. Murrow:   Edward R. Murrow: To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires and lights in a box. Good night, and good luck.

"You're not smart enough to decide for yourself"

From an article in the NY Daily News, which to me is an example of the media telling us "what we (the readers) think".

Then Barack Obama suddenly showed why he is the surprise of the political season. With a strong voice and a confident, focused look, he returned to a question about a hypothetical terror attack on two U.S. cities to deliver a minilecture about the need for a President to be willing to use our military might. Saying we face "a profound security threat," he shattered the developing anti-war tenor of the debate to say there "is no contradiction" in using diplomacy and the military.

A profound security threat? Like Iraq's WMDs, right? If we treat other countries as equals, as Mike Gravel says, we won't have any of those "threats" against our security. Everyone in the world is just like us. "No contradiction" my ass!

That he immediately became the target of the two oddball candidates, Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel, both of whom accused him of being too ready to fight, put Obama in a good light. He was able to pivot off their extremism to show himself a pragmatist on the most important issue facing America.

"That he..." Nice start for a sentence. In any case, why isn't that article advertised as an "editorial"? There aren't many facts, but there's a lot of telling us what to think.

I know I'm preaching to the choir but this is the crap that seriously pisses me off about the MSM. Just tell us what happened and let US decide for ourselves what it all means.

Great point about the media.

Power to the people.

I'm glad there are people like Gravel left in this world. He gives me hope, in this cruel world of lies and constant media coverage of death, terror, and insanity.

I'm going to help out any ways I can. If Mike Gravel is reading this, let it be known that no matter what happens, he has restored hope in many ppl whom will one day make the world a better place.

God bless a man who can bring hope to the ppl who really need it.

I couldn't agree more. Morrow's comments that were pasted above fit perfectly as well.

Take a look at The National Initiative  :    www.ni4d.us

1.  You think of a remedy to concentration of the media.

2.  You put it in writing.

3.  You submit it to an Internet process ran by a National Trust.

4.  If they like your idea ,  they conduct a poll and discussion.

5.  If The People like your idea , it is put on an open ballot.

6.  If enough of The People favor your idea , it becomes a CitizenOrder.

7.  I am not up to speed as to who enforces the CitizenOrders.
