Will Mike share his thoughts of the Afghanistan surge?

Not sure if the Senator still lurks here. But I'd love to hear his take on Obama's speech and policy. For those of us who supported Mke in the primaries (or Nader or Kucinich), none of this should come as a surprise.
"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank."
Obama, the Escalator, 1 December, 2009 :
"The 30,000 additional troops that I'm announcing tonight will deploy in the first part of 2010 -- the fastest possible pace -- so that they can target the insurgency and secure key population centers"
Obama, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate, 11 Dececember, 2009 :
"...war is sometimes necessary..."

Times have changed. We are going to empower the American people. Let’s work together. I am tough. I’m not afraid. None of this politics as usual. -- Mike Gravel
many things can and should be said as the police states tighten their grip
number one - what happened to all the Bush rhetoric - i.e 9/11, Iran and Iraq, greenhouse and peak oil production ? - I mean - are people so mesmerized or frightened since media no longer covers them that these issues are no longer items of importance? - this is your 800 bn man at work - or - the duopoly of a lead fisted 2 party system -
you like to think people are intelligent creatures ( at least we hope they are ), capable of independent thought and action, not just mindless zombies eating sleeping breeding on cue - but sometimes you have to wonder
If Mike Gravel were President of the United States all the troops now in Iraq and Afghanistan would be home already.
I can't believe that Mike would ever have opened the floodgates of debt at the Treasury as The 800 Million Dollar Man has done.
There would certainly not be a law mandating that every American buy an insurance policy from the mob passing as Health Care Reform.
There would be measurable progress now on Mike's pledge to get us off of carbon in 10 years.
In short the world would be immeasurably better off if we the American People had put down the pipe and voted for our own interests in 2008. But we didn't. In fact the question still remains : can we even understand what we've done in electing Yet Another Duopoll? More to the point : are we finally ready to take the bull by the horns?
