The McLaughlin Group Spits on Mike (again)

During their yearly mock award ceremony airing this week, the Chicago Tribune’s Clarence Page once again felt it necessary to award Mike a dubious boobie prize.

For those that recall, back in 2007 Clarence Page gave Mike Gravel the award for “Most Destined to Political Oblivion.” Now, as 2008 reaches an end, Senator Gravel has been awarded the title of “Most Boring.” Page went on to mention some of Gravel’s allegedly interminable stump speeches – which is quite remarkable, considering the Senator has largely kept a low 2008 profile since being blackballed by the military-journalism complex in 2007.

Which begs the question, just what is Clarence Page’s beef with Senator Gravel anyway?

One thing is for certain, wherever you stand on the Senator and his issues, the last adjective to spring to mind is “boring”. For the brief time he was permitted into our homes, Senator Gravel lit brush fires of freedom under the collective heap of empty suits (and pant suit) on the debate stage.
