URGENT

To all Gravel supporters who are planning to go to the march on July, 12th! It seems that Mike is NOT speaking- he will just be marching...I am not certain if Senator Gravel is even aware of this...I only found out by chatting in the chatroom with Ray Powell, one of the organizers of the march. Please send an email RIGHT NOW if you would like to hear Mike speak, even if you're not going to the event yourself...The person in charge of this is Deborah (I don't know her last name) and her email address is deborah@revolutionmarch.com . Please let the organizers of this event know how important it is for Mike to be heard! Thank you...

What's going on?

Has anything been conformed about this? I whould really like to get to see Mike speak.

You have just been introduced to "The Libertarians"

You have just been introduced to "The Libertarians"

This is what Libertarians are like. Mike is not a Libertarian with a capital L. These folks hate democracy. They love "The Republic". They are elitists. Freedom means their freedom. Like the Founding Slave-Holding Fathers' is their love of Freedom.

Mike's was a one man move to co-opt the Libertarian Party. I have to admire the sweep of the man's vision. In this instance I am not surprised at how it turned out.

I still admire it. Mike's stature continues to grow in my mind. Someone defined character as the way one responds to the successes and the failures one faces in life. Mike gives lessons in character acting, if you will, every day.  And everyday he strides forward to meet the day's successes or failures with equanimity.

Dear Tomislav,   Here is

Dear Tomislav,

Here is what happened with regard to Senator Gravel and the RevolutionMarch. Way back in February, when we were researching who to have at the march, we scoured blogs, forums, and chat rooms to find out what the grassroots wanted. Since we are a grassroots movement, and this is a march and rally, called for by Ron Paul, and organized by the grassroots, we wanted to be sure we were inviting speakers who were not only experts on the subject matter on which they would be speaking, but also who the grassroots wanted.

As we were putting our team and our organizational chart together - found here: http://www.revolutionmarch.com/boardbios.aspx , we thought we found someone with experience, besides myself, to handle the booking of the speakers and talent. We thought we picked the right person for the job. This person's political ideology was way left of center, (which didn't matter to us at first), but before we knew it, he was inviting people to speak at the march that were not on the list we compiled from our research. He unilaterally began to turn the rally into his vision of what it should be. By the time he left RMF, the damage had been done. We had to UNinvite speakers, Mike Gravel being one of them. Senator Gravel's office was called immediately after he was invited.  We were all under the impression that this was put to rest months ago.  We suspect the disgruntled volunteer has resurrected this issue.

If you look at the list of speakers and their topics, and you know anything about Mike Gravel, and you are intellectually honest, you will admit that his message would have to be narrowed and watered way down to fit the agenda of topics. Gravel, while a champion of fighting against the draft and unnecessary wars, is pushing an agenda that many in this movement feel is unconstitutional. The National Initiative calls for a 100% pure democracy which violates the Constitution with regard to an established republic. It requires an amendment because it is arguably non-constitutional. Many people believe that a pure democracy is mob rule.

Compare Gravel's record with that of Ron Paul. Aside from the war issue, there is very little they have in common. Senator Gravel's ideology and agenda are simply  not in keeping with the speaking agenda put forth at this rally. And, aside from the aforementioned, we are overbooked on speakers as it is. As you can imagine, we have been absolutely inundated with speakers and talent that would like to be a part of this event; most of whom are giving us the full court press.

Having stated all of the above, Mike Gravel is more than welcome to attend, and we know that his presence will be important to his supporters who attend.  We are all Americans. We are uniting on this day because on one thing we can all agree: What our beloved Constitution represents to us with regard to Peace, Prosperity, and Freedom.  It is the subversion of it that brings us all together on this very important day.

Shameful

One can’t help but be struck by the similarities between the actions of Ron Paul and his purported band of freedom-lovers, and the GE corporate apparatchiks, which also tried to slap a dog choker around the Senator’s esteemed neck.

Deborah would be well served actually acquainting herself with the National Initiative before adopting a hoity-toity attitude and mischaracterizing it as "mob rule" and "100% democracy". In fact, somuchas a cursory glance at the most widespread of Gravel press marerials, would reveal the National Initiative legislation was crafted in league with constitutional scholars.

Not true...

Deborah, being that person you are talking about, I am going to set something straight. I NEVER invited anyone who was not on the list. I talked to people who were not yet on the list as possible alternates. But I never confirmed anyone who was not approved by the board.  Mike Gravel's name was listed as "A" list and "confirmed".

Your ignorance as to what simularities there are between Ron Paul and Mike Gravel is clear. Other then health care, they agree on just about everything.

I am dissapointed with the fact that you would like to blame all this on me. But the fact is I was just another volunteer who was trying to help.

I never tried to turn the rally into anything other then what it was. I wasn't even on the project long enough to do anything you are saying.

The national inititive does NOT call for 100% democracy. It calls for adding a referendum system to the already exsisting republic. And more to the point, Mike was not going to be talking about it at the rally at all. He was going to be talking about war and foreign policy. A subject that his opinion on is identical to Ron Paul's.

I would like to know what damage I have done, and more to the point who you "uninvited" other then changing your mind about Senator Gravel.

I am appalled at your insinuations in this post. And am glad I resigned. The Ron Paul movement is begining to fill it's ranks with "elitists" who think they have the right to determine who gets to be a freedom fighter and who doesn't.

My reply to Revolution March.

I was on the Mike Gravel forums recently and stumbled across this:

Needless to say, I am very  upset about these allegations. First of all. I NEVER invited anyone who was not on the list. This is a complete falsehood. When it looked as though we would not be able to get some of the people you wanted, I started negotiations with some people but I was always clear that it would be pending board approval. My political leanings are not far to the left. And being as how I am currently running for office, I would ask you to get your facts straight about that. I never tried to shape the rally into my own vision or any such nonsense. The situation with Mike Gravel himself was that he was on the B list, and During one of the conference calls when we started having trouble getting people, Bryan suggested that we move him up to the A list, and then confirm him. So that is what I did. And only then did I confirm with Mike Gravel. If you think you called Senator Gravel's office, think again. Neither Mike Gravel nor his campaign staff knew anything about him being removed. As much as a week or so ago. And in fact, the only reason I even knew you had decided in all your wisdom that he was not compatible with the movement was because Ray Powell let it slip in the RevolutionBroadcasting.com chat room. That is also the only reason that anyone from Gravel's campaign knew either. I had to be the one to tell him. Your view on Mike Gravel as compared to Ron Paul is completely ignorant of the truth. Other then health care, and the concept of the NI4D, they agree on everything. Having worked heavily in both Candidate's movements, and actually know Mike Gravel personally and as a friend I think I would know this. In any case, it was not an issue as Mike Gravel was told he could speak on foreign policy and the war. As far as ending unconstitutional wars (Not to mention the draft) Mike Gravel has personally accomplished far more then even Ron Paul in this regard. Period. And when you make statements that you want people to be credible as to their sources there was no one on your list who has done more in that regard. I spent a lot of hours on the march before I resigned. Now I wish I had never become involved. I spent a lot of hours alienating my soon to be ex-wife working on this project. And that is why I resigned. Now I read that somehow your bungling of speakers is all my fault. And that I had some kind of personal agenda. I have spoken with a lawyer. And they have asked me to ask you for a public apology and retraction of this statement. If you do not comply, I will be taking legal action against the march. I am personally insulted to this attack on myself and my character. Enough people knew who you were talking about when you talked about this "person we thought would do a good job", that now you are doing damage to my own political credibility. I hope that we can resolve this without further complications, but blaming me for the March's mishandling of this situation is not acceptable. Period. Bryan and Ray's personal problems and ignorance when it comes to Mike Gravel let out a huge stink in the air as to what was really going on here. And I simply will not be your scapegoat. I am absolutely disgusted by the elitist mentality that is slowly driving this movement into the ground. I don't blame Dr. Paul for this at all, but I am starting to understand why he is so hard to get a hold of. Many of his followers have degraded into a bickering group of finger pointing hypocrites.
