This week, the Democratic-controlled House is expected to pass a popular, if largely symbolic, measure that would declare as illegal OPEC efforts to control oil prices and give the U.S. attorney general the authority to sue the cartel.
Yesterday news ran the story about the rest of OPEC refusing to commit to higher production. Today that story has been 'sanitized'. No more word about everyone except Saudi refusing to commit to higher production. Not much of a link to the female suicide bombers in Iraq either. I'm sure the women there are sitting around saying ' yes, let's give the US and Israel more gas so they can keep coming here and killing our children and our grandchildren, yes that would be a good thing.'
now - I have even Googled yesterdays story about non comittment and it is g-o-n-e Gone. Once again - so much for media control by big business.
They don't want the average American to see what is going on. They don't want us upset. They just want us to keep paying higher prices. Even though Saudi increased production oil went higher based on African production. Open our mouths and crap down our throats - how much more of this will people take!
(at least this got posted - i don't know what is going on with this site - because I tried posting the original non-committment article and it never made it here)

Its tough to read things like this, or other things without a reliable news source and know wtf people are talking about or what is happening.
So are you saying

I'm not apt to agree or disagree, but I am just wondering...
censored?
Submitted on June 24th, 2008 by arpidoodleI found my original post - I will refer to it momentarily - the article was posted under 'New Topics' but ended up in 'Online Campaign"
I was a little frustrated - I'll try to explain with the following example - 'you hear about a car crash and you think - that's too bad - but you SEE the car crash and you think - that's TERRIBLE! - well, the article I am about to post (repost) came from a major international news source - and within hours of it being posted it was removed, rewritten, reposted without accusational/condemning perspectives.
It makes the same kind of difference as hearing about a crash and seeing it. Why they do this I don't know - can take a good guess though. The article is copied verbatim as follows -
"Oil prices have risen after emergency talks among the world's top oil powers and leading consuming nations over the weekend ended with no real resolution. This prompted Saudi Arabia, the world's top exporter, to call a summit in Jeddah with top energy policy makers to discuss the situation.
Before the meeting, Saudi Arabia had pledged to lift daily quotas to 9.7 million barrels by the end of July, an increase of about 500,000 barrels since May. But without specific commitment from other members of the Opec cartel to lift production, the market considered that Saudi Arabia's move would not be enough to meet soaring demand, especially from fast-growing emerging economies such as China and India."
In particular, the line " but without specific commitment from other members of the producers' cartel, OPEC, to lift production (output), the market considered that Saudi Arabia's move would not be enough to meet soaring demand - ......
That whole story was sanitized, - rewritten and reposted and placed in exactly the same spot on CBC and CTV newsboards. Instead of referring to the 'non-productive' OPEC members as being 'uncommmitted' the story was changed to blame African production issues and domestic use as culprit for high oil prices. The rest of the report was the same.
This is media manipulation. In a place where media has a grave responsibility to keep the public accurately informed to what amounts to the reason for war. Big Oil/MIC has played Big Brother and told us what they want us to know - and not the truth. Oil interests are all out and out lies at this point. There is a massive, massive difference between what is going on - with China and Iranian oil, - Iran and Israel, - the reasons for being uncommitted, and why facts were changed to stem from 'domestic' usage related instead of the illegal war, - and reported as such.
The National Security Act is just an arm of censorship. When facts are intentionally misconstrued to deceive the public in issues that will in all likelihood lead to furhter military intervention, the responsibility for the media is to the truth. But, we are being told the problems Bush has created have in fact, been created by ourselves.
Not true.
The problems I have had with this post may be due to 'minor' technical glitches - it wouldn't be the first time esp. with this site - overall it has performed well - but the issue of censorship and misinformation is not just 'too bad' - it is 'terrible'
Shall we keep reading between the lines? China signed Iran to long term oil production. Non-US aligned oil producers will NEVER willingly give us a drop. Period. THIS IS WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPORTED. China will take all it can get at any price. Maybe that is why Israel was sabre rattling with Iran this past week. Bush isn't done yet, but there will be no doubt of the outcome if Iran is invaded for any reason - the fate of that incursion will not be in the hands of America.
Think it will be interesting to see how this all plays out? Like, for instance, the recent spate of female suicide bombers in Iraq?
I must ask, "what possesses a woman to strap a bomb to her body and blow herself up? A little misguided foreign policy? The state of African oil production? Hardly. But we, as good citizens should accept that rationalizing?
Bush is a bad man. A bad businessman. He couldn't find oil in Saudi Arabia, hell, he couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. But he IS qualified to run this country.
Who can believe that?
If Obama doesn't do what the MIC tells him to do, do you think for a second anything he tries to do will be supported in Congress?
Those who hold the power actually do that, and they're not just sitting on their hands with it.
it goes on like the energizer bunny
Submitted on July 9th, 2008 by arpidoodlewhere is the invective that was shown when Bush almost invaded Iran?
Things haven't changed. The scum bags that pull our strings have taken another devious plan of action.
but they are always one step behind, because lies and deceit are never front page headlines.
The oil people purportedly razzing Iran are too little too late - China and potentially India will be pose the major threat as far as oil consumption is concerned. And western manufacturing interests are in bed with them. So keep pulling the wool over the peoples' eyes with a little honky tonk noise making / saber rattling. Ultimately, we, - anyone with a passion for 'middle class asperations' will be the ones getting bent over and taking it from behind.
Bush waltzed into Iraq and it's what? ... ancient history? That part of the story doesn't go away . . it goes on and on ..
ultimately the people getting screwed are the people with things, not the people without, and when the same saber rattlers have taken everything of value they can from us, they will turn to - believe it or not - China and India and strip them too. It's been a business trend for almost half a century,
go into a poor country, if they can survive and prosper, find another poor country and literally fuck the last ones all to hell. It's how profit is made and that is the long and short of it. that is business baby, that IS business. That is the G8, that is the Bilderbergs, that is the Neocon way and that is the way it is.
It cant last forever but we will live in limbo until business is a mutually beneficial prcess - once again, as it was meant to be.
The NI4D may or may not have righted the wrong. It was our best shot.
Still is.
