Is Gravel going to AFSCME?

I just got finished reading that Barack Obama isn't going to attend this meeting in Nevada on Feb 18th and it's apparently a big deal that he isn't going I think mostly surprised because he's supposed to be a big deal. I was just wondering if he was attending because I think it would be a great opportunity for Mr. Gravel.

Why isn't Barack Going?

Guess Nevada is not on his radar.

From what I understand

Obama is in Nevada but not at this particular convention.  There's some other big wig event that he decided to go to instead I think in Las Vegas.

Obama

He spoke in Iowa at some fund raising event.

1st DEBATE IS WEDNESDAY IN NEVADA

I cannot wait to hear Gravel. I have a feeling Stephanopolouos is going to fall off his chair.

Do you know

if there will be video of the event whether on CSPAN or here at the site?

CSPAN has a Democratic Forum tomorrow (Wed) at 3pm EST

I don't know about AFSCME or what that is, but there is a Democratic Presidential debate tomorrow in Nevada and it seems that CSPAN (www.c-span.org/) will have it at 3PM EST according to their home page.

The Gravel campaign sent an email that Senator Gravel would attend.

DON

Only democracy will save us!

Oh this is good!

I just read about this and was wondering if he was going to be there because there are some other big wig candidates going like Richardson, Dobb and Clinton.  Is this going to be his first debate??

He was there because he is running for President!

The reason for his being there is rather obvious. Senator Gravel was also at the DNC winter meeting where all Democratic presidential candidates made presentations.

DON

Only democracy will save us!

No need

to get excited.  I know why he was there.  I know some candidates (or at least maybe just Obama) skipped out on the event and I was wondering if Gravel was going.  Of course now we know he  did and I saw his part.  I just watched him and Kucinich.  Personally I liked Gravel better because he was very relaxed and down to earth and joked with Stephonopholus (sp?).  I think the event was way too short for candidates but I understand there were a lot there and they had so much time.

Hilary was menaced today.

People are giving her such a hard time over the war. She deserves it, just like the rest of them do. You tell her at the debates Gravel. DON'T YOU LET HER OFF THE HOOK.

HILLARY CLUELESS

Hillary is clueless about the Iraq war and what to do next over there. Infact other then Mike Gravel and Dennis K. all candidates are clueless about Iraq. Hillary has said nothing of substance since she announced she was going to run.

Hillary and Iran

It is not that Hillary is clueless about Iran it's that she represents the interest of her state and sponsor Israel. Apart from the military profiteers nobody else can benefit from the devistation of Iraq or the destsruction of Iran.

Dog and Pony Show

It's not a debate. Not a real one, anyway. They bring out each candidate, ask them a question and they leave the stage. The frontrunners don't want a real debate, they've got too much to lose, especially with Gravel hanging around.

Right on The Money

You will not see a real debate if Hillary and the other talking heads who voted for the war have anything to say about it. They all know they were wrong and they all know why, because they go along with the popular way of thinking at the time. Only a real leader will stand up for something when everyone else is saying something different.

I really liked

what Gravel said at the DNC winter meeting.  It might be different if Hillary wasn't so gung-ho on Iran (and Edwards too don't forget was doing the same thing at a pro-Israel event) and was trying to change things with Iraq but she just isn't doing too much.  If she was doing something like Kerry I might be able to forgive her.  And Edwards hasn't denounced his IWR co-sponsership either I haven't seen or heard.  Even republican Lincoln Chafee knew not to vote for IWR and he didn't support it.

Thank God Gravel is in.

The debates are getting a bit too choreographed for my liking. I was livid at John Edwards for the way he rolled over for Cheney. I heard him that day (or the day before) on Al Franken's show and Al asked him "are you going to go after this guy?" and Edwards says "yessir." Cheney ate his lunch. At the time, the talk was how this attorney from the south was going to tear Cheney up. It was frustrating watching him dance with Lord Vader.

I'm all for clean debates, no swiftboating and such. But dammit, someone has to call out these pro-war, corporate drenched dems for their policies and voting record and I hope its Gravel. He can't just be the voice of dissent, though. He has to have some good ideas.

Oh I agree

I agree about the debates.  I find it sad how when Cheney said he'd never seen Edwards in the Senate or met him before Edwards didn't attack back.  The media, surprisingly, took it upon themselves to expose that lie.  I was definitley disappointed with that and also didn't like the kissing up he did with Cheney and his daughter Mary and didn't stand up for Kerry and the stupid attack the Cheney's did on him.  I don't know why but I just find Edwards a total fake.  I think there's a difference than calling someone out and "swiftboating."  The SBVT guys were known liars and I do remember even Jon Stewart pointed out their connection to Bush/Cheney.  I think people just hyped Edwards up so much personally kinda like how they're doing now with Hillary and Obama.

Yes, the senator is going to AFSCME

Senator Gravel has accepted the invitation and will indeed be attending the first presidential candidate debate in Carson City, Nevada on Wednesday, February 21.

Gravel 08

Mike Gravel in Nevada

Later this month in Nevada many of the candidates are going to take center stage. Its is my belief that when all the candidates are on stage and the national media is there one candidate will rise up and be head and shoulders above the rest. That candidate will be Mike Gravel with his power to the people message. He will rise above all other candidates when the debates starts and will gain national exposure and people will respond. Once they do he will win in 2008, I only hope he teams up with Ralph Nader. Two great minds in the White House will be something this nation has not seen in???Well maybe never.

I can't wait for the debates

I can't wait for the debates myself and hearing Gravel there.  I think he'd be like the white version of Al Sharpton in the 2004 debates (he did awesome too than).  However I disagree with him and Nader.  Since Gravel is a demoratic candidate if he became the nominee wouldn't he have to have a democrat as the VP?  I know it's too early to talk about VP's but hey one can always at least think about.  I would like to see him team up with Richardson or Clark.

Gravel and VP

No he could choose anyone he wants for VP. Kerry was trying to get McCain. I would like a Raph Nader - Mike Gravel ticket if they ran together as independents. Nader would never run as a Democrat, he does not believe in donations from companies. A true all blue Democrat ticket for me is Gravel/Feingold

Not true

John Kerry was NOT going to get John McCain to be his VP.  That was a rumor started by the McCain camp and than Joe Biden got a hold of it and spread it around as well.  Kerry and McCain haven't been friends since the 2004 election when McCain didn't do enough to stop the SBVT guys and their lies.  Kerry was going to have another person than Edwards (the party "leadership" at the time said to get Edwards and Edwards funny enough attended a Bilderberg meeting the day or week before) but I know it wasn't McCain.  I remember when Kerry got back to the Senate in 2005 he and McCain on the Senate floor had a pretty good argument (I remember because I watched it happened at the time on CSPAN and there was a lot of finger pointing and Obama). So that's another rightwing lie that you're spreading around and I hope you stop it.  Oh I see so because someone is a democrat that means they're taking donations from companies now eh?  Give me a break.  So why did Nader happily take money from the republicans last time?  He's a pure political whore and is really duping people like you and it's really sad to see you buy into his b.s.  And I agree about Feingold but sadly he isn't running either.  So you have to go buy what you have and I don't know if Feingold would accept a VP slot since he chose to stay in the Senate.  I would like this thread to stay on topic please.  Thank you.

Relax

WoW chill out I am on your side. Ralph Nader will not take money from companies, I have no problem with it ,he does. I worked John Kerry's campaign in Ohio, Infact I was incharge of 6 counties and we were told that he and McCain Talked about it. If thats not true than so what the election is over and I am now trying get Mike Gravel elected.  I would only back Nader if Mike Gravel was not our candidate and a stuffed mouth piece like Hillary or Biden is.

Oh good!  I'm glad to hear

Oh good!  I'm glad to hear that because so many candidates aren't going to that and are going to some bigger event in the city and I think it's a mistake to ignore the unions.  Especially if you're like John Edwards and doing a whole poverty thing.
