Should there be a crime of "outraging public decency"? Let me begin with a recent case. (Oct 27/07) The details are chilling. J. Anderson, 27, came across Christine Lakinski, 50, who was dying in the street. Lakinski had suffered from several medical conditions and was trying to carry laminate flooring to her home. She was very clearly in need of immediate medical attention. Anderson saw Lakinski after he had been smoking cannabis and drinking with friends. First, he threw a bucket of water on Lakinski. He then urinated on her --- as a small crowd gathered around laughing, cheering, and recording the incident on a mobile phone --- before covering her in foam. Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene from pancreatic failure.
It's what happens when too many of us take the easy way out.

<TheVirus> So I had a girlfriend for all of 9 months. She dropped by one afternoon when I was sick with a pan of brownies and a video tape with the simpsons on it (my favorite show). so I start eating the brownies and turn on the tape. midway through it, it cuts to her sucking off some dude. he nuts in her mouth, she looks at the camera, and says "you're dumped. enjoy the brownies" - and spits the mouthful of cum into a bowl of brownie mix.
<alexandr-> you didn't keep eating the brownies did you?
<TheVirus> sure did
<TheVirus> i was hungry
Decency - lol - when profits go up, decency goes down.
Think about it. What are we after - profits - or decency?
When candidates are grooming their electorate to take the easy way out, when candidates groom their voters for prosperity in a time of deterioration is that not taking the easy way out?
Sure, people ARE fed up with it, but they missed the wagon when they missed Gravel's campaign, and the issues are not going to simply 'go away,' far from it ... will we remember what our values are when we get our chance to speak - or will we have gotten lost along the way.
