Gas is going nuts - what is going on?
My friend Gregory (from Poland) and his wife Gloria (from Beijing) just stopped by for a visit. With them were Gloria's parents, both physics professors in Beijing. They are here for a 3 month visit. We were all excited to se each other again, but within 5 minutes the conversation was: Bush, oil, the American dollar, etc, etc, etc.
These people are not dumb cookies, Gloria is a software designer/salesperson who works internatinally (read: sells state of the art technology in China) Greg is an accountant ...
We have got people from every corner talking about Bush - in one term or another - OUR heated 'debate' resolved that - the weakness of the American dollar is the main cause for the higher oil prices. The actions Bush Cheney took in the mid-east were attempts to forestall what is happening now, Forget the war, the NSA, Iran, China - that's water under the bridge - the weakness of the American dollar in international markets has been THE issue for some time, what has happened to it in recent years has spawned - to steal a phrase from JFL - 'the boiling cauldron' of oil related problems since.
And those problems are growing exponentially - the projected $10 per gallon for gas predicted if America invaded Iran will be $10 per gallon in the near future WITHOUT America going into Iran, and it will go up from there. That is reality. Domestic political, judicial, and moral issues do not play positively in international business.
The behaviour of 'the West', i.e. free trade, foreign policy, military aggression has done the exact opposite of what it intended to do.
These actions are done. They are water under the bridge. They can't be undone. They're not being forgotten. We are getting our first serving of just desserts and we all know, - Mike had the potential to change this.
It's about money now, and what's behind that is not social change - it's revenge on America. When we fill up today or tomorrow we know it's happening.
Greg is all excited about Dubai, he left me an Excel document regarding same and we touched on going there.
I posted as much as I thought readers could stomach regarding monetary change - WE HAVE GOT TO START DRAWING ON OUR OWN RESOURCES - we have got to quit relying on foreign trade as we know it, - we have absolutely no choice, - if you are going to make any type of assessment at all, that is the criteria it needs be based on. When is America going to use it's own resources?
How are they going to be used?
What is Obama / McCain saying about this?
What are the alternatives?
Building a means of support that works primarily on purely domestic resources requires national -NOT INTERNATIONAL- national financing.
Fill up your gas tank and see what i mean. And a national finance plan that allows unrestricted equity has as much chance as a Greek speaking Chinese to a Martian because it isn't going to happen until there is no choice.
That may be sooner than you realize.
Mike may not have won the war, but he certainly won a few battles. i can't help but vividly recall Clinton's maniacal laughter from the first Democratic Convention in response to Mike's allegations about America's involvement in the war. That's the sound I heard when she was giving her resignation speech. There is no one who can deny Mike had a significant influence in revealing herr true character to the electorate. All it took was someone to stand up and speak the truth and that is all anything takes.
