Will the real John McCain stand up

he is a maverick, free-thinking spirit who values independence and integrity above toeing the party line.

That is the Old John McCain, the one that has been written about in umpteen newspaper profiles, the one whose campaign bus is called the Straight Talk Express.

But while all eyes have been on Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, a new John McCain has been emerging. For the past 407 days, since he threw his hat into the presidential ring in April 2007, McCain has been criss-crossing the country, presenting an image of himself that runs counter to his long-standing reputation.

"He despised Bush after his defeat in the 2000 race, and he returned to the Senate estranged from his Republican colleagues," says Thomas Mann of the Brookings Institution thinktank. "He loves putting it to those who cross him. But now he's decided that his last shot at the presidency has to be made as a Republican, and that means getting back on board."

So then who are you going to vote for now.

Demoblicans for McCain aka pumacrats

Check out the Demoblicans for McCain site.

It's an amalgam of Hillary die-hards and, I'm sure, what used to be termed Dixiecrats , otherwise known as racists. I'm sure it's getting Republicrat funding as well.

Barr/Gravel/McKinney/Nader. This is the year to wake up our sleep-walking brothers and sisters. They do not have to vote for the R&D duopoly candidates. And if they do they are part of the probelm, not of the solution.

Times have changed. We are going to empower the American people. Let’s work together. I am tough. I’m not afraid. None of this politics as usual. Mike Gravel
