I just watched Nader's talk with High School students that aired on CSPAN 2 last night. You can still watch it at the link below. There was one student who mentioned Gravel's name in a question basically dealing with the corporate controled elections. He then later asks Ralph directly if he does in fact support the NI4D and Nader quickly replied that he fully supports it. Nader then goes on to explain what the NI4D is and explains how it would improve the country. We just need him to put this issue on his webpage including a link to the NI4D website. Now that Ralph has clearly taken a stance on this issue, it is our responsibility to make sure he backs it up.
I have to warn you that it doesn't come up until about 45 minutes into the discussion but I enjoyed watching the whole thing, As a hgh school teacher, I enjoyed the give and take between Ralph and the high school students.

Still wouldnt vote for
Submitted on June 1st, 2008 by kyeotStill wouldnt vote for Nader, hes obviously just trying to appeal to those who would of voted for Gravel. He had years to endorse the NI4D, make videos of it, include it in his videos but he never did till Gravel ran for the President and left the race??!! Real change wont come through government. Focus promoting the NI4D imo everything else is a lie and a waste of time. I already voted this year for the NI4D we need to get more people to do the same and promote the idea.

Whoa....
Nader already has written articles in support of Mike for progressive sites like MotherJones and CommonDreams, as well as writing the intro to his book, Citizen Power. He has publicly supported him on CNN when talking to Wolf Blitzer. It's not his perogative to make videos for NI4D. Nader barely has enough scratch for his own campaign. All things considered, Nader has been a VERY good friend to Mike and the campaign. Much moreso than Kucinich, who didn't utter a peep until the GE suits finally came for him.
Yes, I totally agree that
Submitted on June 1st, 2008 by wentrikinYes, I totally agree that promoting the NI4D is the single most important thing we can do. But now, with Mike out of the race, the NI4D will get even less "mainstream media" attention. Making more and more youtube videos and writing in forums will not be enough. It is like preaching to the choir. We need to get the message out to the millions of voters who don't participate in on-line forums and do not use youtube. I would guess that the majority of voting Americans do not particiate in these websites. I feel that it is very popular with the younger voters, but not nearly as popular with the voters in their 40's, 50's, 60's, etc., and these are the people who we need to get the message to.
It really shouldn't matter as much who gets elected president if the NI4D were to get enough votes and become a constitutional amendment. I personally will "support" any candidate that openly promotes the NI4D not because I feel that they may be the perfect candidate but rather because any open endorsement of the NI4D is good regardless of how the politician really feels. Ultimately, if the NI4D passes, we the people will finally have the power to run the show, right?
I don't think we should really concentrate on why Nader didn't promote the NI4D earlier but instead, we should focus on the fact that they more he speaks of it now, the more Mike's message will be heard and the better chance we all have in taking this country back. According to a recent post on his website, Nader currently is polling at about 5% nationally. I don't know how accurate this number is as I question all polls to a certain extent. But if Ralph can raise his polling numbers to 15%, he will be able to participate in the nationally televised presidential debates. If the NI4D is then mentioned in that arena, I truly believe Mike's message will spread like wild fire, and it could even pass before the end of the year.
Once again, my objective isn't about getting Ralph elected president It is about getting ANY political candidate to endorse the NI4D and, as of right now, our best chance of having it brought up at an upcoming national presidential debate is to get Ralph in those debates. It is a win-win situation if you ask me.
