My personal belief, and one that I have mentioned to many people when describing the Senator, is that his entire life, his body of work is what John Kennedy was describing when he wrote "Profiles in Courage"- essentially the Senator's life is a Profile in Courage.
Well, in honor of Kennedy's book, the JFK library announces yearly Profiles in Courage award (including a lifetime achievement one). On their website, they accept nominations by anyone. So, I think we should all submit a nomination at the Kennedy library for Sen. Gravel to win the award.

I did the same thing last year, but I fear that my nomination went unheard. If all us Gravelians submit a nomination, who knows?
Be sure to mention more than what he did in '71, he also did great things in '07-'08 worthy of the award. From his performance in the debates, his refusal to sign the disenfranchisement pledge that the other candidates signed for Michigan and Florida, and campaigning in those states (which risked his entire Presidential campaign), his party switch putting to risk a career, and so much more...
I can think of no other individual in American politics deserving of the award, and we should all do what we can to make sure he gets it...
