Thank you, all of you

Thanks to Mike Gravel, Skyler, Brian, Jason, Jon, James, and every other Gravel supporter out there!  This campaign has meant a lot to me.  It's changed the way I look at politics, opened my mind, and opened my eyes.

Whenever people ask where all the leaders have gone, I point to Mike Gravel.  He's an amazing man, and I believe in what someone wrote on his Facebook once - that he already won.  Not in the literal sense, but in the sense that he was honest all the way through and fought for what he believed in and what was right.  He didn't give in, and that might be why he lost.  But it's why he won in a deeper sense.

And meeting all of you devoted supporters has been great.  I've learned so much from all of you.  Thank you.

Stay in touch.

One thing's for sure...

We're part of the most badass campaign in United States history.  A campaign full of people that think for themselves and care about civic participation is rare indeed in the world of American Idol.  And hell, find another candidate to do the soulja boy dance (no matter how much I hate the song)!  This campaign sure as hell had the best youtube videos ever.  And, of course, we stood for what we believed in, lobbyists and dirty money all cut out.  Being a part of this campaign (a small part...) is probably one of the highlights of my life.  GIVE 'EM HELL GRAVEL.

Damn Libertarians

Senator Gravel and Supporters,

Please don't ask me to be civil.  I knew those Libertarians couldn't be trusted.  Obviously the Libertarian party was far more interested in preserving their maverick Republican image.  Pardon me, but Barr and Wade are decidedly thuggish.  I watched the CSPAN debates and convention.  Once again, you were the best candidate.

I was terribly saddened to hear you said "I've been in politics since I was 15 and this road is over."  You know, Senator Gravel, both Jimmy Carter and Al Gore accomplished far more good outside of politics.  As for me, I will be involving myself in the National Democratic Initiative.

Thank you for all you've done for America in boldly raising questions that needed answers and treating your supporters with such kindness, as you did with me when I had the honor to meet you.  Somehow, I don't think you're going to quit fighting:  your supporters will be there with you.

Christine Smith quit over the Barr nomination.

Here's some of what she said:

"No true libertarian would support (or defend) the selection of Bob Barr. (For those who choose to remain in the LP to try and repair it, it will take many years to even return to the place the party was a few days ago.) The hope and enormous potential the LP, as “The Party of Principle,” had in 2008 was enormous - now that has been destroyed."

Her rant against Bob Barr was one of the highlights of the convention. For me, it was a joy to watch!

Good job, Christine

And thanks for the link, Ripples.  The following comment by Smith deserves repeating:  "...as a whole I think the LP is unworthy of the participation of anyone with integrity, ethics, and character."  I couldn't agree more.  I hope she considers supporting NI4D.  Barr and Root are creepy conservatives:  the perfect embodiment of the LP.

After the two terms that

After the two terms that Bush rigged to win the election and watching the democrats hand over the nomination to Bush I gave up on politics, I figured our vote didn't count and that our leaders really didn't give a shit.  Then I heard you on the first debate, I was blown away on how you handled it and really laid in some serious questions.  At first I thought damn whats wrong with him, then I listened and learned.  I really thought I was up on politics cause it was always easy to tolerate on the surface through the main stream media, but there was much there I didn't even see when it was right there infront of me, all the corruption, the lies, the bullshit.  I don't know if it was that I was afraid to see what was going on or that I didn't want to believe it was like that.  Either way I listened, researched, and the more I discovered the more I was down to support your cause.  I never thought i would be voting ever again until I learned what you were talking about.

I posted in another thread the one valuable lesson ill take with me is that real change will never come from within the government, it will come from the people.  Another thing I learned is that I'm not a libertarian even though i registered as one to vote for you... if Bob Barr really represents what they are about im not going to be apart of that.

At this moment I am bitter at the American People for being so damn stupid not to see how valueble the NI4D is to perserving this nation, but they chose their demise so be it.  After the dust settles and the words uttered by Ron Paul "Consitution" and Obama "Change" emerges to be nothing more than the endless roll of used toilet paper that streams out thier mouth, there will still be the NI4D and maybe slowly but shurely the people will pick up on it.

Over all I want to thank YOU, your staff, and all your supporters for believeing in the American People and takeing a chance that no one else would dare to take.  Your ideas and ideals were real not just words and I forever respect you for that.

I plan to collect all your books

I want to thank all the

I want to thank all the Gravel supporters (Debbie, Ross, James, Uterfan...) and members of the campaign (Skyler, Jason...and especially Jon Kraus) as well. You have certainly made me feel less lonely, and I admired the creativity of the campaign and its supporters.

I want to thank Gravel for giving me the gift of political literacy.

It's been an honor meeting all of you

And I really hope we can all keep in touch and move this idea forward. Maybe we can form a virtual political meeting place where we can discuss the NI4D as well as other great political and social ideas.
