What becomes of the Website?

I certainly value these forums, as I've been able to meet many great people. People, whom we together are unified under the banner of a Gravel political spectrum, and a feeling of a necessary change through the NI4D. In the past one year since I've joined these forums, I've been in many a great discussion, met many a good American, and have found signs of hope in an era of darkness. Because of this, I hope that the forum stay intact, regardless of what happens to the website.

As for the website, I hope it becomes the Senator's personal site, where (like authors' sites) there will be information about his books, lectures, and speaking engagements, whereby we might have the oppurtunity to meet with him on the lecture trail, and more importantly, be accessible to the latest happenings of a great American.

But those are just my thoughts, does anyone know what will really happen to this site? (A site, which, I just realized, has probably been my most visited website other than my email in the past year...I know I'm not the only one).

P.S. Thank you for all your work Senator! We are all fully indebted to you and what you have done for this country and the world.

The National Initiative Network?

My suggestion is that we could turn this website into something like "The National Initiative Network". We can use this site to build off of our existing base to promote the National Initiative.

For example, we could find people who are running for Congress who would be willing to endorse the National Initiative and then endorse them here.

Another example is that we could endorse candidates at the state level (such as those who are running for governor and those running for state legislature) in states that don't have an initiative process but who endorse a state initiative process.

I agree, Jason

I think this website should be the grassroots site of the NI4D. The National Inititiave Network is a great idea...I would hate to lose this site. As I have previously stated, I feel somehow at home here, and I would miss it dearly if I no longer have the option of coming here. While I believe joining the google group for the NI4D is a good idea, I still think this site should remain...Just my 2 cents- for what it's worth...

I'm emailing Skyler about

I'm emailing Skyler about sending out an email to the newsletter list telling people about Gravel's future and telling them to keep in touch, etc.  I'm also starting a thread here where you can put your email address and any other info you want, just so we can all keep in touch.

I hope it does turn into his

I hope it does turn into his personal website.

What's Next

Here's a suggestion on how we can honor Mike Gravel.  Choose a Gravel doctrine and truly embrace it.  Mine is:  "We have to start treating the rest of the world as equals".   Adherence to that basic tenet necessarily leads to a raft of policy determinations concerning (to name a few) the environment, the MIC, etc.   I'm not suggesting that Mike has all of the answers,  But I do believe that his strength of character, his willingness to put himself into the maelstrom of public discourse and his decades of civic engagement provides an abundant source of inspiration from which all of us can draw.   I join all of you in extending my heartfelt appreciation to the herculean efforts of the Gravel campaign.  It has been an honorable endeavor -- one that needs to be maintained in the months and years ahead.
