Mike Gravel Survives Round 1!

I'm watching the Libertarian Convention right now. Mike Gravel made it through the first round of voting in 4th place. (He goes on to the second round of voting.)

Smith and Jingozian did not make it to the second round. Smith got in front of the microphone and slammed Barr.

Jingozian threw his support behind Mike Gravel!

Thank You Mike for Trying Libertarian

The "States Don't Have Rights; People Do" wing, has lost the Libertarian Party .

Kubby and Gravel were the only acceptable (and electable) candidates, for true Libertarians.

As a longtime follower of the Libertarian Party I am disgusted with the outcome.

The Libertarian "Dayton Accord" is DEAD. Time for something new. McKinney is truly honorable, and I wish her well, but...

"Nader / Gonzales 2008" LOOKS VERY PROMISING.

Matt Gonzales was an outstanding choice. Ralph is okay; Matt is great. I would think he would be very open to a National Ballot Initiative (NI4D). Please have Mike contact him.

Traditional American Values may yet again come back into fashion.

Thank You Mike

National Initiative Party?

Perhaps Senator Gravel, in conjunction with his supporters, should start a "National Initiative Party". Now I realize that the Senator is done running. However, we could use Gravel's base of support to endorse candidates around the country who are running for office.

Endorse candidates running for the U.S. House of Representatives and for the Senate who themselves endorse the National Initiative.

Endorse candidates for governor and state legislatures who endorse state initiatives in states that don't have an initiative process.

The new party idea is a great idea, but we lack what is needed for new parties...$$$

Join the USpvp. It's easy. You can do it by telepathy and still remain a Green, Libertarian, Liberal, Conservative... or even a Republicrat or Demoblican if you wish.

And it's free, as in liberty and as in beer.

Times have changed. We are going to empower the American people. Let’s work together. I am tough. I’m not afraid. None of this politics as usual. Mike Gravel

Gravel losses. Helps Dems

Hey Great news guys, Mike Gravel LOST!!! That means Bob Barr can help siphon off some votes from the Republicans in November.

Obama 08!!!!!!!  WE CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!

I have no idea who to give

I have no idea who to give my vote to now.  Will Mike Gravel be endorsing a candidate?

He said on C-Span...

...he won't be endorsing.

I agree with some of the others. Now that we know how broken representative government is, voting seems even more pointless than before. Mike's National Initiative appears to be the only solution (and thank the gods he offered it to us or else there really *would* be no hope).

I just cannot get excited about anyone else seeing how everything is rigged.

Ruwart vs. Barr

Can someone tell me why Gravel supported Root, then Barr instead of Ruwart? Especially when he could have easily enough earned a Ruwart VP slot? That's heartbreaking...something to do with the National Initiative perhaps?

enunciation or audio discrimination error perhaps?

Root vs Ruwart...

r.....t vs r........t

I thought the same at first and then figured maybe not...

Next

Is it too late for a Green party run or another independent party? It would be terrible for Mike not to be able to ccontinue.

What are people thinking...Barr? Ruwart?   Obama? Clinton?   McCain?   God help us.

Thanks, Mike but Barr not...

Thanks, Mike for your run...

I'll not join the LP just yet, but I pay more attention to them now...

I'll vote for Obama before I'll vote for Barr (his high point in life is still his culinary experience with Borat).

...

Damn.  Where to go from here?

McKinney, anyone?

He also survived round two.

He also survived round two. I'm not sure how this works, but if there's a fourth round, I'm sure he'd be around for it.

Bad News, Everyone...

Mike is out...

On April 30th, Gravel told

On April 30th, Gravel told me that if he didn't win the LP nomination, he will become a "writer and a lecturer". So I think he will drop out because he doesn't have Nader's money to appear on the ballot as an independent.

Since Gravel's dropping out (based on what I've heard on April 30th), I am thinking about voting for McKinney or Kelcey Wilson. They won't change human governance, but it will buy me enough time to change human governance.

Hillary, Obama and McCain want to destroy this world, and I really do not want that to happen. They want the US to collapse.

I will be willing to have Gravel as my mentor once I can drive to Northern VA (where Gravel lives) because I am planning to run for office in 2014 (age requirements....being 19 in 2008...-_-) for the sake of the Ni4d and this country,

Sorry Mike

Sorry Mike, It's been a great run. You are still my candidate.

Thanks Gravel for keeping

Thanks Gravel for keeping the "right-wing" segment of the LP in line, by being an independent minded candidate and not spinning the truth of reality.

You really helped shape the LP this year. Thanks for joining. :)

Maybe Mike can get a VP slot...?

Mike the Libertarians were

Mike the Libertarians were not a fit for you and I am sorry. Come home to the Green Party in 2012 or sooner we need you to carry the progressive banner.

i dont know, the only thing

i dont know, the only thing that kept me away from libertarians is the ultra conservative wing that they always seemed to be but if i could classify myself it would be liberal libertarian and Gravel made me realize i could be that. Well i have all summer to pick a new candidate. I am not going to write Gravel in just out of spite the way many ron paul supporters are. the guy is calling it the end so this is the end.

I thank senator Gravel a great deal for opening my eyes to the reality of our government and making me think beyond simply being frustrated with politicians to realizing that there could be real answers.

Libertarians, Greens, ...

I look forward to a day when there are no political parties at all...

Thank you Mike!

I'm sad you weren't choosen and I don't really like Bob Barr. I don't know who to choose now, maybe Nader but I'm not sure. Thank you Mike for fighting for whats right and please don't stop fighting the good fight. We need you!

NI4D!!!!!

Still in disbelief

The fact that the Bob Barr folks are hijacking the LP is really disheartening. The only good thing I can take from it is that he will syphon votes from McCain. I cannot ever vote for someone who has voted so poorly in his past and I think it's ridiculous that people think he has suddenly seen the light and is really a libertarian now.

It looks like my only choices now are Nader or McKinney.

Senator Gravel - It's been a pleasure and an honor being here on your behalf. You are an amazing person and I am so glad that the debates gave me exposure to you in the first place. I will keep telling people about the NI4D.

Thank you so much for your service to this country! You're my hero. :-)

Barr makes the LP party look

Barr makes the LP party look even more ridiculous than before...>_<

I looked at Nader, McKinney and Kelcey Wilson carefully. I'm voting for Kelcey Wilson in November (even if I have to write him in...I know he struggled to get signatures to have his name on the ballot as he was getting signatures in October/November on campus. I met Wilson, I engaged in a political conversation, and I signed because I wanted to have another option in case Gravel wasn't available in November) because he has a good heart.

But we need to look long-term. We need 60 million Americans to say yes for the Ni4d. That way, even if the psychopaths Hillary, Obama or McCain win, we can still have a little bit of control in the future of this country.

I can't run until 2014, but I wonder if a world will still exist in 2014.

The National Initiative party would be a good idea because it would help with ballot access (independents really struggle with ballot access unless they're millionaires), but I hate parties in general because parties usually incite hypocrisy and prejudice.

The PVP party is good too.

I wish we had a better electoral system that didn't incite taking lobby money.
