Watched the Debate this AM

I don't really have much to say about it, really.  It was good.  Gravel, as usual, did not disappoint.  I think Root's lack of government experience definately showed and he really tried to take Mike down on his "non-libertarian" views.  Mike talked about natural energy (wind, solar) - Root talked about nuclear energy and not giving up our economy for environment protection.

Maybe it is just because I am a Gravel supporter, but Root sounds like a broken record.  He just says the same thing every time he is on TV.  Mike always surprises me with how knowledgable he is (today it was how he knew about the housing and economic collapse of Japan, and what he stated were some of the major issues facing our housing market).

The commentators were good.  I don't remember their names unfortunately, but they said that the LP could definately give the 2 party system a run for their money this year.  There wasn't much negative at all.

I recorded the debate on my DVR so anyone who wants to fly up is welcome to watch it ;)  Haha.

Anyway, I'd like to hear other opinions as well.

The National Initiative

I found it interesting that evey time Senator Gravel brought up the National Initiative, Root had absolutely no comment...either for or against. I don't recall the moderator ever asking about it in more detail, either.

Having said that, I think the Senator needs to frame his discussion of the National Initiative a little differently. What I mean by that is that when he says something like, "We need to have a National Initiative that will empower the American people to make laws", I really think that a lot of people have no idea what he's talking about.

Even when I first heard him say something like that, it took a little while for me to figure out what he was saying...and I'm from a state that has an initiative process! And I can't help but wonder if people from states that don't have an initiative process would be confused as to what the Senator is talking about.

If I may suggest, I think the Senator should frame it something like this:

"Just like Congress votes "yes" or "no" on bills that come before its members, about half the states in this country have processes where the citizens can vote "yes" or "no" on proposed laws on a ballot.  These proposed laws can be generated by the people themselves through gathering signatures, or they can be put before the people by their state legislature. I believe that the American people should be able to engage in this process at ALL levels of government: federal, state, and local. I call my proposal, 'The National Initiative'"

Does that make any sense, or am I out to lunch on this one?

I agree completely.  I knew

I agree completely.  I knew who Gravel was and liked him a lot for a few months before I knew what the Ni4D was.  Whenever he said "empower the American people", I just assumed he meant it like every other politician.  Especially in a debate setting like this, Gravel should be clearer as to what he's advocating.

You could talk to him about that, Jason.

Youtube?

Could you post this on youtube for those of us who don't get Fox Business Channel?

                                                         Thanks,  Sharon

I am currently researching

I am currently researching how it is possible to get the info from my DVR to my PC.  Will try tonight.
