Some Nice Documentaries...

I was just wondering how many people have ever taken the time to watch or even heard about the great films "Why We Fight" (from 2005, I believe) and "no end in sight" (from 2006, I think)?  Those are both amazing documentaries about both the military industrial complex and the failure of the rebuilding of Iraq after the initial conflict.

I've also seen some other great documentaries based on other areas.  Of course, "An Inconvenient Truth" is a great film showing off the problems of global warming (Gore sure did a great job with that while he was in office...(SARCASMSMSMSMS) and one of my own personal favorites, "Who Killed The Electric Car", which does an amazing job of showing off the the money-hungry, brutal, corporate powers of the mainstream auto manufacturers and the government's lack of standing up for the advancement of REAL PRACTICAL alternative-energy vehicles (not corn-eaters or hydrogen bombs).

Anyways, I was just curious what documentaries anyone else had seen and really loved and would suggest to others.  Thanks!

Who Killed the Electric Car? is just incredible.

So gutwrenching. It affected me much more even than An Inconvenient Truth, which I had seen just a few days before.

Living in AK I'm already too well aware of global warming. The changes in weather started freaking me out in the mid-90's, so I'm over most of the panic by now and largely resigned. Still, the weather's getting increasingly wonky. A few times in the last month it looked like spring was well on its way. Warm, with plants shooting up, snow almost gone...then, wham. A big snowfall. Some of the plants outside had grown half a foot and then Friday...19 inches of snow in one day! It really plays tricks with your mind.

There's a three wheeled electric car coming out in the next couple of months called the TRIAC.

"Hacking Democracy" is a great one about the problems with voting machines.  It focuses on Bev Harris of www.blackboxvoting.org.

A new doc is coming out called "We are What We Eat" (www.wearewhatweeatthemovie.com) that looks really good.

Also, a new Morgan Spurlock film is coming out right about now called "Where in the World is Osama bin Laden" where he goes to Afghanistan to look for bin Laden.  It looks great, and "Supersize Me" was great.  It turned me off fast food.  I have yet to see "What Would Jesus Buy?" but really want to.

Documentaries

I've seen "Why we fight", "No End in Sight", and "An Inconvienient truth" as well, and I agree that they all are very good documentaries. "Why We Fight" is probably my favorite out of the ones I've seen (though I haven't seen many). I haven't seen "Who killed the Electric Car", however, though it sounds very interesting. As for other interesting documentaries that I have seen, "Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers" is interesting, and so is "Sicko" (a Michael Moore documentary). Another documentary that I've seen and like moderately well is "Supersize Me", where Morgan Spurlock eats McDonald's only for 30 days straight, three square meals every day, and attempts to discover the effects that fast food has upon our individual health and our country's health, along with other related topics.

YES

I have "Iraq For Sale" in my possession but I just need to get around to watching it.  Supersize Me is a pretty good documentary, although it didn't really impact as much as I think it did for other people.  When I watched it I just sort of felt like, "DUHH!!  Fast food is nothin' but grease and fat...you're not telling me anything new!" but it still was well done.

Surprisingly, I haven't seen Sicko, but I've developed somewhat of a distaste for Michael Moore after I watched the Ralph Nader documentary where it shows him doing a complete 180 of his morals towards Nader.
