Global warming profiteers are wrong

I think it is worth looking into the idea that global warming is a natural cycle and not caused by the activities of man. Read S. Fred Singer's "Unstopable Global Warming Every 1500 Years".  I think Al Gore and the UN have the wrong information on this topic, like the weapons of mass destruction which were supposed to in Iraq, Global Warming is not caused by human activities, but primarily by solar activities. Global Warming and Global Cooling has been going on forever without man. I do not work for the oil industry.

Is Mike going to be on the ballot under the Libertarian Party?

it doesnt matter if it is true or not.

Ive managed to bring myself to a final conclusion on this subject. looking into global warming as a debate is fine but in the end it does not matter if it is happening from our hands or nature's hands. The fact is, we are polluting the environment with coal and sulfur.

Consider the 2 possibilities.

1 - Global warming warnings are correct but we did nothing about it because w ewere too busy arguing on how to interpret the data. In this case we cook ourselves out of existance because the climate change makes it impossible to grow crops in the current locations and we cant redeploy farmlands in new locations in time to feed the population in time assuming there are any places that will support our crops. Millions of people are displaces from costal cities. Most people live near the coast and rising oceans case chaos as our highest populated cities have to move inland at once. Florida will end up completely underwater.

2 - Global warming warnings turned out to be false but we invested in preparing for the crisis. We no longer pump out carbon and sulfur into the atmosphere because we now use fuel that gives off water as a byproduct. Smog over large cities dissipates & acid rain dissapears. Crop technology created for growing in strange areas intended for climate change now allow struggling nations to feed their people because they can now grow food in poor conditions. Countries around the world are no longer slaves to the oil fields of the middle east and oil can be treated as a valuable resource for the creation of building materials, plastics, medicines, and organic reagents. New wind, solar, tidal, and geothermal technologies allow individuals to power their homes and supply excess electricity to the grid. Dirty coal plants and dangerous nuclear waste are no longer thought of as an option.

The third possibility:

3 - We do prepare, and it does happen... we manage to stave off a disaster because we invested in protecting ourselves from the situation.

I've taken several classes

I've taken several classes that adressed global warming, and it is happening. There were cycles, but the spike between the 1800s and today is unprecedented in the history of the Earth. It's like a huge spike among the waves. Since the 1980s, people have been saying this, but only Gravel will deal with it.

Al Gore is an icon of "politics as usual" because he talks about global warming, but offers nothing to stop it (only Gravel proposed the carbon tax). He mentions problems without offering solutions.

You talk about warming and cooling cycles. Yes, I am aware of this, but human activity since the industrial revolution has significantly accelerated the warming cycle and considerably increased the temperature.

I know that there is pseudoscience everywhere (eg. the book "The Skeptical Environmentalist" is pseudoscientific), and half of the media articles don't believe in global warming, but no scientific paper has contested global warming.

In any case, we do need to change our lifestyle. My region no longer has regular winters (12 years ago, there was snow...well it's rare now and a snowflake now makes people hysterical in the State I am living in).

If you're skeptical about global warming because of warming/cooling cycles, consider this.

The death toll of the world is rising, but the increase is due to murder/some disease/war.

Are we going to deny the cause of the increase of the world's death toll?

The temperature of the planet is rising, but the increase is due to human activity.

Are we going to deny the cause of the increase of the planet's temperature?

Consider another thing. During Earth's history, the cycles were not completely independent. An increase in the number of plants contrbuted to global cooling during the Middle Carboniferous.

Gravel's status in the LP will be determined by the LP convention. We can't vote in the libertarian primaries.

I think he will wind up libertarian on the ballot in November (if he wins) or independent in November (if he doesn't win the LP nomination at the convention)

Carbon Tax

Which career politician is against a carbon tax? Why would they be?

Currently, the IPCC is working fervently to include the current global cooling into the theory of global warming.

Whatever your thoughts on climate change. Restricting someone's lifestyle or greening the economy will be great excuses for politicians to write laws effecting our liberty.

That is true.  Many

That is true.  Many politicians probably will take advantage of this, and use it to restrict our rights or limit what we can do.  Now, I think that regardless of whether climate change is real or not we need drastic action to protect the environment, but we also need to make sure that we do not infringe upon our rights with this process.

And that's why we need the National Initiative for Democracy.  To get the people some control in Washington, so that they can guard over their own rights, and make sure that no one is infringing upon them.

Is private property a collective right or an individual right?

I agree that the environment is threatened. Pollution, lack of respect for property rights & environmental laws from multinational corporations plus misuse of eminent domain by the government are still big problems, whether climate change is effected by human beings or not.

Common property (i.e., the oceans, government owned land, the air) should be protected by environmental laws, these laws should be created by the common owners - the people.
Private property is guaranteed by the Bill of Rights and should be protected by local county sheriffs or by the property owner, as stated in the 10th amendment. Private property is an individual right and it should not be regulated by the government or by the majority of people.

Genuine private property (Allodial Title) should be reestablished throughout the remaining 49 states (only Texas has not legislated against Allodial Titles, although they are not widely purchased at the present time).

I do not support the NI4D in its present form, but if it is rethought so that it specifically states which authorities it grants to the the majority, while not harming individual's rights and not giving the majority an incentive to abuse the public treasury, I would support it wholeheartedly.
