Liberty Decides '08 is a new program in the Libertarian Party to promote their pre-nomination presidential candidates as they engage in a competitive process. To participate in the program, candidates must cross three thresholds:
Mike Gravel has currently met the first two requirements. However, he has not met the third requirement:
So if we supporters can raise $ 3975 on behalf of Mike Gravel, he will be qualified and in 5th place for the program.
If you want to donate on behalf of Senator Gravel, go to https://www.lp.org/libertydecides/donate/donategravel.shtml

50 / 20 Plan?
Submitted on April 25th, 2008 by choosenowWe could consider that too. I'm saving up from drinking sodas; I plan on dividing up the 50 dollars I save every 20 days: donating 30 dollars to his campaign and the other 20 to the Liberty Decides program (for Gravel, of course).
Liberty Decides Donations
Submitted on April 13th, 2008 by Shawn in LouisvilleMy interpretation of the LD program is that it is not mandatory, but that it does put the top fundraisers in a good light. So I just dropped some change on them, *and* the Gravel campaign.
Up until recently I'd been a little cautious, not sure where Gravel was going to take this Libertarian angle. But I have been very impressed with some of the press coming out on him lately, and he's given the right answers to some important questions.
Please, everyone, don't wait, contribute NOW! Mike needs to be able to travel to keep giving these interviews, and attending LP events.
I donated!
Submitted on April 1st, 2008 by SharonYesterday, I donated $250 to the Libertarian Party in support of Mike Gravel!
I don't understand what this
Submitted on April 1st, 2008 by rosslI don't understand what this accomplishes...
Aside from that, how about a mass donation day solely for this purpose? Ralph Nader and Ron Paul have been very successful with them, and I remember Gravel having one in which he raised over $30,000. We could get the campaign to send out some emails (that's how Nader does it), and then just all of us supporters can advertise it online, with instructions as to how to donate to the LP party in Gravel's name (or whatever needs to be done).
I still don't understand
Submitted on April 1st, 2008 by rosslI still don't understand what this accomplishes. And does the money go to the Libertarian party or actually to Gravel?
The party
Submitted on April 2nd, 2008 by cuzimrayHowever, if the party nominates Gravel... then back to Gravel. It is an awkward situation but a necessity for THE BEST CANDIDATE. The party will choose to represent the candidate that raises the most capital. While Sen. Gravel is trying to enlighten the American public about "the game" of politics, he must continue to play ball. Fortunately, the Libertarian platform represents him well and vice versa. Therefore, the two entities will gamble a little bit on one another and eventually put all the eggs (dollars) in one basket.
If anyone has information that makes this sound unfounded please reply pronto, I will investigate and rescind my answer... but "Gravellians" are in this to win and thusly must play the game.
CURMUDGEONS AND ICONOCLASTS UNITE!
I agree. We really need to
Submitted on April 1st, 2008 by Brian798I agree. We really need to have another Mass Donation Day. We need one to sort of kick off Mike's Libertarian run, if you will. Besides, we have not had one in a long time.

For a date, we can do April
Submitted on April 1st, 2008 by rosslFor a date, we can do April 15th, in honor of the Fair Tax. Although people might not be very willing to donate then...
We could do April 22nd, for Earth Day.
Any other ideas?
Well...the 15th and the 22nd
Submitted on April 3rd, 2008 by iiPwnYooWell...the 15th and the 22nd are both a week away...
We can do something like a donation week?
That's a better idea. Want
Submitted on April 3rd, 2008 by rosslThat's a better idea. Want to advertise it as this:
Mike Gravel donation week from April 15th until the mass donation day April 22nd, from Tax Day to Earth Day
That's a combination of them, because that gives people more time, so they don't feel trapped, but it also uses the idea of a mass donation day which a lot of people like.

Both of those dates could be
Submitted on April 1st, 2008 by Brian798Both of those dates could be possible. I can't really think of any other dates in April. Out of those two, I like April 15th, since Mike supports the Fair Tax. I think people would donate. If they want Mike to be elected, to make the Fair Tax happen, then they need to donate. Also, by doing it that day, we can talk to the Fair Tax supporters in each state, and maybe they will donate a little as well.

I say let's do it April
Submitted on April 2nd, 2008 by rosslI say let's do it April 15. If no one disagrees, let's start advertising it now. And if you're going to a Gravel event, try to spread the word there.
