How to vote for Gravel for the LP nomination?

So if we wanted to vote for Gravel for the LP ticket, how do we got about it?

The Libertarian Party is

The Libertarian Party is still a relatively new party and its election process doesn't differ that much from the two major parties.  A primary election doesn't actually mean that much and is more of a gage of how popular a particular candidate is.  At that point the delegates go to the convention and vote for the candidate of their choice.  The libertarians have chosen this method for the time being because they're still young.  There are talks of opening it up to a primary style vote in the future.

To be able to vote for Gravel you must become a delegate and attend the convention, much like any other party.  The delegates are the ones that pick the candidates, not the popular vote.  The reason for this is to keep other parties from hijacking the election... we're kind of seeing it with the democrats.  Republicans are switching over to vote for Hillary so she will gain the nomination and lose against McCain.  The libertarians tried to do it with Ron Paul and the Republicans.

To find out how to become a delegate you can contact your state LP and ask about the process.  They're more than happy to give you information if you can't find it online.

Let's do it!

Let's do it!

For the LP party, there are

For the LP party, there are no primaries. It all happens at the LP Covention on May 22-26. That is where it all happens. Really there is no way for us to vote for him, unless we are a delegate. That is how it works, I think.

Well, it seems like we need

Well, it seems like we need to get several people to become delegates for Gravel.  Am I wrong?

I need to learn more about the process, but I am definitely interested in this possibility.

"People will have to suffer a level of frustration and anger sufficient to reason their way out of this conundrum and reach for an "out of the box" solution to their own empowerment." (page 6 of Citizen Power)

So people have no say in who

So people have no say in who gets the LP ticket? That seems super strange.

The delegates at the

The delegates at the National Covention do. That is it I think.

Was wondering about this myself

It does seem strange that libertarian beliefs, being what they are, that the people don't have a direct say in choosing their nominee? Weird.

Its how the laws work

Most states don't allow the LP into the taxpayer funded primaries.

The LP candidate is chosen by representatives of the Libertarian movement from each state (just like at every other parties convention).  We pay for our own convention and selection process. Unlike the R's and D's who use taxpayer money to pay for their conventions and primaries. In May the LP will be holding our annual convention in Denver. It won't cost the taxpayer a dime. Meanwhile the Republican and Democrat conventions will cost the taxpayer millions.
