What's with the clapping?

What is it with Clinton and Obama always clapping on stage at their rallies while the audience is clapping for them? You ever notice that?
Is it just me, or is that kind of...well...weird.
I've noticed Gravel doesn't do the "clapping thing" on stage. Hmmm.....should he?
Maybe he should just to poke fun at Obama and Clinton!
Just some thoughts....
