So I was sad to hear today of Bob Barr winning the Libertarian nomination and consequently Mike's ending of his political career.
Went over to the chat-room hoping to chat but no one there. So I'll bloviate here.
The libertarians seem statistically goofy to vote for a guy who was a big supporter
of the war on drugs and who voted for the patriot act and who just happened to drop into the Libertarian camp on May 12.
Could almost seem a false flag operation by counting on Barr's minor fame appeal to co-opt the libbers.
So by now I'm pretty well disheartened by third party possibilities in this country. They seem like boutique hobby parties compared with the organization of the european parties outside of the usual main two. I know the parliamentary system allows for coalition power sharing but still.. Does the american body politic always need the Big Personality like Wallace, Perot, or Nader then to garner anything over a percentage point or two in a national election then? Somehow I wish Jesse Ventura (whose youtube videos I just caught up with recently)had initiated an exploratory committee back a year ago. We sure could use a change in outlook from the executive branch and I have my serious doubts about the Si se puede plagiarist's ability to deliver.
