So What is Senator Gravel's Upcoming Schedule for March?

The last scheduled event for Mike Gravel was March 1.

It is now March 9.

So what's the upcoming schedule?

Will be going to Mississippi before this Tuesday's primary/caucus?

Yeah, I'd also like to know

Yeah, I'd also like to know when he'll be in Pennsylvania...

I sent an email to Chris P.

I sent an email to Chris P. asking if Mike would be in Mississippi this weekend, but I have not yet recieved a response. Although, we do not tend to be in the states with the primaries, so I doubt it.

Ballot Access

We're not on the ballot in either Mississippi or Pennsylvania, therefore, it would be a waste of campaign resources to travel to either state.

We are, however, on the ballot in North Carolina. A lot of campaign focus will be tuned to campaigning in that state.

Even if he's not in Mississippi, this still begs the question...

...what is Senator Gravel's schedule for this month? That last event posted on the main page was from 8 days ago.

No offense, but I don't think HQ appreciates the fact that when we, the grassroots supporters, don't know what Senator Gravel is up to, it makes it very hard for us to collaborate on a strategy to promote him. We're all kind of free-floating out here.

If, for example, Senator Gravel was going to be in North Carolina next week, we could give him a helping hand. We could alert the media and send e-mails out to grassroots groups in that state that support positions that Mike Gravel supports, (like Fair Tax groups).

HQ needs to help us with up-to-date information so that we can maximize the effectiveness of our efforts in supporting him.

Please try and make the events schedule a priority from here on out.

Not Planned

The Senator has not released a public schedule this week. He's staying in the DC area.

Mike is meeting with Ron Paul on Tuesday, for example, but there's no reason why we would release that to the public. It's not a public meeting.

I have no idea when Mike will be in NC. We haven't planned that out yet.

Mike Gravel Is Meeting with Ron Paul This Tuesday....

...and there's no reason to release that to the public?! That's not some small, insignificant detail...that's a tidbit of info that grassroots supporters could actually use to our advantage! This is the sort of thing I'm talking about!

As Senator Gravel would say, "Stop and think":

Don't you think that there's at least a small chance that some news media outlets might ask the question, "Why in the world is (Democratic candidate)  Mike Gravel (with 0 delegates) meeting with (Republican candidate) Ron Paul (who will soon be dropping out of the race)? What's going on here? Are they going to discuss an independent ticket? If not, then what? Why would these two individuals meet?"

If there's even a small chance that even a small fraction of the news media would ask these kinds of questions, then tipping them off about this meeting could potentially get Senator Gravel some much needed media attention.

Where are they meeting? In D.C.?

I say that we Gravel supporters should start e-mailing media outlets like crazy between now and Tuesday. Hell, it's worth a shot!

What do you think Skyler?

Couldn't Tell You.

I didn't arrange the meeting, however, I believe that the Ron Paul campaign requested that it not be publicized.

There's a reason we haven't posted anything in the schedule. It really pisses me off that our supporters think that the campaign has failed just because there are no events posted on the website. This is the campaign's Valley Forge, there's not much going on right now, and therefore, there isn't anything to post to the website.

I'm not lazy, I'm not stupid. I'm not refraining from posting anything on the website because there are better things to do. There simply is not anything going on right now, and I resent the fact that myself and other staffers are blamed for inactivity on the campaign's behalf.

To Skyler: Some Suggestions

First, I apologize if you feel that you and other staffers are viewed upon as being stupid, lazy, and unproductive. I know that you're all working hard with fewer staffers and resources than the big money-making candidates have.

It's just that I and many other supporters (from what I can tell) would just like to be kept up-to-date on what's going on...even if there's nothing major going on.

For example, on the schedule, couldn't you do something like this on a weekly basis:

  • March 9 - 15
  • Mike has no public events scheduled for this week. He will be speaking with various individuals privately this week in the D.C. area. The Gravel campaign is also in the the process of making plans to be in North Carolina in the next week or two. We'll keep you posted!

And if there's a primary/caucus that week in a state where Mike is on the ballot, you could throw that in, too, reminding supporters to vote for Gravel.

How about something like that? That could be really helpful. For example, info like that could focus our efforts, for example, to contact various advocay groups in North Carolina (like Fair Tax groups, anti war groups, etc.), and give them a heads-up that Mike Gravel will soon be coming to North Carolina, and that we'll keep them posted. And we wouldn't be wondering what's going on and making rampant speculations.

Basically, I'm just trying to say that information...any information...can potentially have utility for us supporters. We just want you to help us help you. :)

I phoned the Mississippi

I phoned the Mississippi Democratic Party, we are the ballot according to the Executive Director. On the hompage of this website, it also says we are on the ballot..

Gravel '08

Hmmm?

That is a bit strange or scary that the Gravel team doesn't know that they are on a ballot. My advice is the HQ doesn't have the resources right now to really help out Miss. so I would canvass and do the grassroots level myself.

Something I find interesting though. North Carolina is one of the hardest states to get on the ballot as an indy. Could this be to boost some grassroots level people and eventually have them sign the petition for Gravel to be on the ballot?

Personally, I would love to see Gravel, after NC campaigning, to start to just spend some time in some of the most liberal/indy states in the nation and start to build some sort of a grassroots level there for the Nov Election. The Green & Libs basically are too far into their primaries and conventions for Gravel to even have any chance. Constitution party doesn't fit Gravel really. So who does that leave? DING DING DING.... the Reform Party. You, know the only party to annoy both mainstream parties(Dems with Nader in '04 and Perot in '92).

I think after N.C. , Gravel should start entertaining the idea of speaking to the small indy groups in states that are especially gaining momentum and fit his bill in Vermont, New York, and Minnesota. Next, if he does decided to give Reform Party a shot you need to speak to the different sections of it in the country. If you can unite or somehow have them all agree on Gravel you should be gaining momentum. So basically, I think Gravel needs to start to find liberal states that he could poll well in and start building them up.

Correction

When I last checked, about a month ago, we weren't on the Mississippi ballot, but our State Director down there is very passionate, energetic, and talented, so we may be on the ballot. I'm the video guy on this campaign, ballot access is not my focal place of work. I know for a fact, however, that we are not on the ballot in PA.

We don't have the resources, plain and simple, to fly, lodge, or have the Senator campaign. It's a tragedy, but we have very little money on hand right now, and our first goal is paying off campaign debts.

I know what you mean about

I know what you mean about the Mississippi director. I have also been in contact and we are the ballot according to the director as well. And when I talked to the Mississippi Democratic Party Executive Director, he was no totally sure if we were, but then he checked in some files and he said we are. I hear you about the money issue. I know we are going to speaking arrangement to speaking arrangement, so I was mostly asking if he would be speaking at any colleges or anything. Thanks for the info.
