Sad day...

It looks like Nader chose Matt Gonzalez as his running mate for president. I'm disappointed that there is no Gravel/Nader or Nader/Gravel ticket now. Now we have 2 candidates running for president who are great yet have minimal support. We can't aford to have two candidates like that running, the votes get divided and our voices get dismissed as unimportant (as if that doesn't already happen). I'm behind Gravel 100% still. I just wish Nader would have joined Gravel as a running mate or vise versa. This just creates divide, all around a not so good situation in my opinion. What do you guys think?

Comments

Yeah

Yeah it can be positive maybe. But I can't help but think they might see the small numbers behind the different candidates and dismiss us as unimportant. Thats a nice analogy about the tents and all but if the tents are spread out randomly under different camps, they become less significant in the eye of others.

Yeah, I was definitely

Yeah, I was definitely bummed when I discovered that, just because you know, it is a division. I do agree that it may be a blessing in disguise for both of them, just because there are multiples. Does Mike have a running mate yet, or any choices that you know of? The only thing that would have been great about Nader is that his name is better known. We just have to get Mike’s name out there!!!!!!!!!

Agree

Yeah I agree with you. Although I respect Gravel and his campaign, sometimes I wonder how he actually PLANS to get into the White House. To be Nader's VP would be not be a big loss to get into a position of power so that Gravel can actually implement some of his ideas. Any how though, a Gravel/Nader Ticket was mostly a pipe dream anyways.

Disagree

While I, too, believed Gravel/ Nader to be an intriguing and powerful ticket, I disagree that Nader going another route harms Gravel's cause. The media can easily ignore one smaller candidate (as we have seen), but is more likely to be obligated to give attention to multiple campaigns; particularly as they grow in numbers. If you drive down the highway and see a tent out in a random field you might say "hey, look at that nut", but if the field is full of tents, you're gonna ask why so many people are camping there. Besides, Gravel's campaign is all about EVERYONE'S voice being heard and great diversity to be seen/ explored. Nader's campaign is a stellar example of that.

Curmudgeons and Iconclasts Unite!

Ask everyone you know if they can name all 3 Democratic candidates!

Indeed, it is partly the

Indeed, it is partly the above defeatist mentality that is preventing Gravel and Nader from being heard in the mainstream.  And who is to say that they could not join forces at a later date after lively public debates on the _____ Party circuit?  ;)

(I actually made a graphic last night for a dream super party.  :D)

For the naysayers, it might be helpful to remember how the marginalization of Kucinich became even worse after Gravel was excluded.  As I see it:  the more strong candidates out there discussing the important issues, the better.  Competition does not have to be a bad thing.  Let's be creative and look at constructive solutions.  I am not ready to pass around the razor blades just yet!  (to paraphrase a quote from Gravel  :D)

Yeah in my eyes i think this

Yeah in my eyes i think this is excellent.  Here we have two candidates who have actually done something for the country and are outspoken about there ideals.  Ron Paul blew his chance to make a difference when he avoided his chance to debate Gravel not for votes but to make the public aware of what was going on.  Im hoping that these two join forces not for battle of votes but to make people aware that there is an alternative and to expose the sugar coated self interest dung Hillary and Obama really are.  If the people become aware who knows what can happen.
