In the tradition of Geo. W. Bush, who as governor of Texas sent 152 men and Karla Fay Tucker to the death chamber, Gov.Rick Perry Is about to snuff Kenneth Foster. FOSTER IS NOT GUILTY OF THE KILLILNG. HE HAD BEEN DRIVING A CAR FROM WHICH ONE OF THE PASSANGERS WANDERED OFF, GOT INTO A FIGHT AND SHOT SOMEBODY. A drakonian Texas law holds Foster guilty just by association even though he was 80 feet away and had no involvement in or expectation that the crime would occour. See democracynow.org. CONTACT GOV. Texas law arbitrary?

It's important that the law follow the rules. That's what law is. Otherwise we might get a president who uses one event to justify another that is not related. Foster may be a bad guy but punish him for what he did, don't kill him to meet a state quota, or whatever their reason ...

Foster got what he deserved

Foster got what he deserved - he just got it for the wrong reason  - which still makes it wrong.

My knowledge of the situation from news coverage did not indicate what punishment was handed to him for all the armed robberies committed that day.

The problem is not that Foster is doing life but the precedent Texas law is setting for those who may be truly innocent - such as any designated driver might find themselves in - no- armed robberies themselves should justify the life sentence.

Franz Kafka and Eugene Ionesco could not have dreamed up the state of Texas' absurd justice system. Jimmy Carter, Desmond Tutu and lots of other folks contacted Gov. Perry -I hope Sen. Gravel did too...
