Modified Concept (originally Weblo announcement)

Weblo Fan Site is up and running.

Anyone can check the site out.   In order to post comments you must register with the site.  Registration is free and allows a free celebrity fan property.   Last time I checked the following were available.

Gravel_2008

Gravel, Mike

Gravel2008.us (domain)

Probably a number of others as well.

If you decide to sign up please use promotional code E19c5 and I will use funds that are generated from this to donate to the campaign.

[EDIT]

I have to rescind that offer, at this time, as it has been brought to my attention that this may potentially be a violation of FEC regulations, as it is essentially a third party donation.

Not being a lawyer, or a campaign finance specialist, its a bit beyond my comprehension without a lot of study.

Continuation of the above post, because the edit box is somewhat difficult to work with as it requires scrolling to use.

I liked the idea, conceptually, and have no idea about the legalities of it.   A related concept with sponsored links has similar potential problems.   As a campaign strategy, there should be some way to harvest that form of revenue generation.   To be legal it may have to be a first party mechanism, if it is usable at all.   The potentials are staggering with the right form of implementation, maybe some genius will figure it out.

Regardless.  The Weblo site does get a fair amount of traffic, and is another good place to post fan sites.

Related Applications and idea extrapolations

As a more refined web sponsorship model (something like http://www.thehungersite.com) it would have huge potential for generating revenue for non "media selected" candidates.

Whether something like this is an effective model for a revenue generation source, and if it is allowable under finance rules is a question that is beyond my knowledge.  It does seem like the sort of concept that would have huge potential if it was usable and word could get out.

Anyone with a solid grasp of the legalities that could refine or rule out this form of campaign revenue generation, please feel free to comment.
