The list of celeb donors is out

Celebrities. All for the power of dollar and the glory of ego.

I would say that most celebrtities are soaked in ego-mania. The worst of them has for many years been embraced as half gods by the media and the spellbound crowd. I'm guessing that the natural approach these celebrities would have is; What's in it for me?...And my cause? And that, I believe is essentially to feed his or her own ego by getting either more attention, more money, more admiration or basically more of everything.

Some of them have 5-10 big mansions around the world.. Hello? Whats up with that?

Celebrities are not and has never been pro peoples real freedom or concerned about peoples real issues and needs, as far as I'm concerned. Except maybe for a very few, as indicated in the celeb donor list (Mark Ruffalo that is...).

I saw the ever so talented Robert de Niro, embracing Obama. I'm thinking why? Because Obama is a real man? No. Because Obama is made to be a "visionary", and he is in the lead and he knows how to shine in front of the camera. De Niro feeds off that. This is how I perceive it.

The psychological enviroment of today is practically designed to boost famous peoples ego. The media and the entertainment creates semi gods and it's basically the same methods you can find in general politics and religion: Misinformation, coloring the truth and creating perfect delusions for people to believe in and admire.

Well, the people are beginning to wake up from this and the people are also getting smarter every day. And they want truth. No problem.

Mike Gravel doesn't attract phonys. He attracts real people.

Best regards Django.

  • Right, being idolized or a celebrity further reenforces the class division between the 'elite' and the 'average' person. What's to say that they're better person?

Ok, Now How to Promote It

We need the same type of effort to concentrate on endorsements as we had getting Mike in the debates. Let's organize an email/contact campaign for:

1. Celebrities, Top Business People, etc.

2. Appropriate Businesses and Organizations

It would help if the Campaign privately contacted area coordinators with a list of priorities.

The World Can't Wait

Mike Gravel endorses http://www.worldcantwait.net/ an organization seeking to impeach Bush/Cheney forwar crimes.

Many celebs are also endorses, Hopefully they'll start campaining for Mike Gravel.

Celebs like: Edward Asner, Jane Fonda,  Paul Haggis (director of Crash), Sean Penn,  Michael Ratner (director), Mark Ruffalo,

Also...

Considering many of the online polls that include those who are not running have Al Gore in the lead, or at least near the lead, why not ask for Gore's support? If he can throw his support behind Gravel, wouldn't that at least earn Mike some decent media coverage?

Excellent Idea

That is an Excellent Idea!   Gore would be great in supporting Mike Gravel.  It would give Mike the media recognition that he deserves and it would help Gore in his initiatives for the environment and peace.

just like he endorsed Howard Dean.....

I agree that a high profile endorsement (especially Gore) would be helpful in bringing positive attention to the Gravel campaign. However, if endorsements were the deciding factor, then Howard Dean would be president instead of chairman...

Bands/Musicians have

Bands/Musicians have websites with contact info. That would be a start. And don't neglect the country singers!
Same thing for celebrities... most have some sort of website, if not a MySpace page.

Excellent suggestion

Any singer with a wide audience appeal can have a potentially powerful impact on the campaign.   They reach a lot of people, and if afew respond positively to Mike Gravel, they are well positioned to advance the campaign agenda.   I suspect Neil Young has some philosophical similarities.  Last concert I went to of his drew 40,000 people.

There are lots of possibilities in the music community, agree that any asset of this nature that gets connected is a positive value and has the potential to increase the campaigns appeal and increase the momentum of the campaign.
