War on Iran? Another 'oily topic'

There was a discussion between myself and another progressive Dem a couple of weeks ago.  As wee talked it seemed to us that it was funny that the United States has been on a blitz for oil in the Middle East.  We dug a bit deeper, and according to the Wall Street Journal (which the date escapes me at the moment) Iran has appoxamitely 5-10 years worth of oil left to drill.  Which is one of the reasons why Iran is looking toward Nuclear Power to power its country.  The other figure that we found astonishing was the fact that 35 to 40 percent of our oil comes from Central and South America.  The Gross National Product of the Oil we get from Mexico is about 40% of their economy.  They also are about 5-10 years away from being completely tapped out.

So we are thinking about invading a country, who is running out of oil, going nuclear so that they can power themselves, and *MIGHT* have rich enough urnainum in 10 years to have A bomb.

It reminds me of the Roman Empire.  Continously at war with someone for some reason just to keep the citizens passified.
