Presidential
candidate and former U.S. Senator Mike Gravel will be speaking at a forum for
Democratic candidates sponsored by PBS at Howard University on June 28 at 9
p.m. The debate will be moderated by well-known PBS talk-show host and New York
Times best-selling author Tavis Smiley and will be aired live on PBS stations
across the country.
"It looks as though the organizers of this forum responded to previous
debates where moderators appeared to favor particular candidates," said
Senator Gravel. "I applaud the fact that they have gone out of their way
to try to be fair and impartial."
At this Thursday's forum, the podium arrangement will have already been set by
randomly drawing names from a hat. In addition, the questions posed to
candidates will be asked in a pre-determined sequence to ensure that all
candidates get equal time.
The focus of the forum will be on issues that affect all Americans including
health care, affordable housing, crime and justice, Katrina relief, the economy
and the environment. All of the candidates have agreed to attend.
So tune in tonight to hear the Senator debate his plan for America!
