POLITICAL MYSTERIES
Last week, Senator Hillary Clinton made a statement at the NAACP debate that cleared up the mystery about who has been attempting to limit my participation in Democratic debates and forums.
When CNN, along with the Manchester Union Leader and WMUR TV, the Hearst affiliate, did not invite me to their prospective debates scheduled to begin in New Hampshire on June 6, I was mystified by so unusual a decision taken by respected national media organizations. Primary debates in earlier presidential election cycles had included all viable candidates. My staff asked these media companies why I was being excluded. They were told that the Senator did not meet their criteria to participate in the debates. But when asked, they would not tell us their criteria.
We issued a press release outlining my leadership bona fides: forcing an end to the military draft; ending nuclear testing in the North Pacific; forcing a decision by Congress to build the Alaska pipeline; and releasing the Pentagon Papers, risking censure and possibly prison. The resulting Supreme Court case in 1972 made it clear that the protection of the Speech and Debate clause of the Constitution extended to all members of Congress, protecting them from being challenged by the Executive or the Judiciary if they choose to reveal secret information that the American people should know. Tragically, the protection afforded by that Supreme Court decision has never been employed by any member of Congress, particularly with respect to members’ suspicions that the White House was cooking the intelligence to make the case for the U.S. preemptive invasion of Iraq.
My campaign’s press release made clear that these media companies were engaging in censorship and un-American conduct by excluding me from their public debates. The public’s overwhelming reaction to their unfairness forced them to reverse their earlier decision and invite me.
An even more surprising mystery occurred when MoveOn.org, the progressive antiwar organization, decided not to include me in their online Town Meeting, even though all the other seven Democratic candidates were included. They gave as a reason that I did not receive a sufficient number of votes from their membership. Since I’ve been absent from the public arena for over a generation, I would venture to say that 99% of their membership under forty did not know who I was prior to the DNC winter meeting and the South Carolina debate. However, my antiwar bona fides include opposing the Vietnam War and publicly opposing the Iraq war beginning in the spring of 2002, six months before the Congress even voted on the issue.
The final mystery occurred in the last ten days when the Human Rights Campaign chose not to invite me to their August candidate forum. Their decision was somewhat bizarre since my positions on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights are by far the most progressive of any presidential candidate. The essence of HRC is justice and civil rights. When supporters learned of my exclusion, there was such an outcry that I was invited to the forum within 24 hours.
Why would national organizations seek to keep a bona fide national leader out of debates and forums that would permit the public to fully evaluate Democratic presidential candidates? The comment by Senator Clinton in an exchange with Senator Edwards last Thursday in Detroit following the NAACP debate has now solved the mystery:
The exchange.
Senator John Edwards: “We should try to have a more serious, and a smaller group.”
Senator Hillary Clinton: “There was an attempt by our campaign to do that, it got, somehow, detoured. We’ve gotta get back to it….our guys should talk.”
In an apparent attempt to shift blame to Senator Edwards when questioned about her comment the next day in New Hampshire, Senator Clinton said:
Senator Hillary Clinton: "I think he (Senator Edwards) has some ideas about what he’d like to do."
Rather than accepting responsibility for her efforts to limit my participation in public debates, Senator Clinton deflected the blame onto Senator Edwards. That’s an interesting character trait for a presidential candidate.

Submitted on August 6th, 2007 by ThomasGThere are three issues which must be represented for the 70% General Population, so that government at all levels can be realigned to represent the interests of the 70% Common Population, also.
The first issue is CULTURE and the fact that all levels of government in the United States are harvesting the masses of the Common Population of the United States for maintenance and perpetuation of the culture of the U.S. Government, the culture of Commercial Interests and the Interests of Capital and the culture of the Professional Class to the exclusion of the CULTURAL INTERESTS of the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION, and that through monetary harvesting of resources and educational inculcation of the masses of the 70% Common Population of the United States, the 70% Common Population are being intentionally suppressed, oppressed and tyrannized by ways of law, education and enforcement authority, the 70% Common Population is being denied the means to develop and maintain its own class and culture. I am concerned that harvesting of the economic resources of the 70% Common Population as indicated leaves the 70% Common Population in a constant fight for BOTH actual and cultural survival, without a culture of its own, and without the economic means even to ORIGINATE and MAINTAIN a CULTURAL INFRASTRUCTURE and FRAMEWORK, that can allow the 70% Common Population to establish a Class and Cultural infrastructure and framework for the 70% Common Population that will secure their interests as a class and culture in their struggle with the cultures of all levels of government -- city, county, state and federal, the culture of commercial interests and the interests of capital, and the culture of the Professional Class.
The second issue is POLITICS and that the 70% majority Common Population of the United States as a Class and Culture are not politically represented in all levels of the government of the United States, and are in fact oppressed, suppressed and tyrannized by laws that benefit only the culture of the Government, the culture of Commercial Interests and the Interests of Capital and the culture of the Professional Class without the provision of substantial benefit to and for the 70% majority Common Population as a Class and Culture.
The third issue is the United States maintaining a National Economy that is NOT deindustrialized and financialized in pursuit of the Private Interests of Globalization, a World Economy and a New World Order that will create a common world population that functions as an UNDERCLASS, a Class and Culture without substantial economic benefit from their efforts designed by advocates of the New World Order to provide added value only to interests of Government, Commerical Interests and the Interests of Capital and Professional Interests without benefit being provided to the Common Population on a global basis.
Radio Stations would provide forums for the discussion of these issues with the broad masses of the Common Population of the United States and I feel that since the interests of the Common Population, the broad masses of the United States, are not represented in the Government of the United States at all levels, that it is necessary to talk directly to and with the broad masses of the United States, the 70% Common Population, about the three issues I have indicated herein, so that Government on ALL levels in the United States can be realigned to represent the interests of the 70% Common Population of the United States with regard to all three issues.
My concern in total is democracy for America and that at present I do not see our Government in the United States representing the tenets of democracy for America. Democracy is inclusive of all classes and cultures of society in a country. When, as in America at the present time, the 70% majority Common Population is politically excluded from all levels of Government and used and harvested as commodities in support of classes and cultures that are not their own without benefit to their own class and culture, this is not democracy.
Liberal Radio Stations would provide a forum for dialog regarding democracy for America and it would behoove the liberals of our country to take advantage of the FCC's grant giving whoever will come the chance to operate full powered radio stations during the one week window starting Oct.12th. See following link:
http://www.getradio.org/secure_a_station
Current media is mute, liberal radio stations would represents first and foremost the interests of the 70% majority Common Population against oppressive interests of all levels of the U.S. Government, Commercial Interests and the Interests of Capital and the Professional Class that have tripartite political and economic interests that conflict with the political and economic interests of the Common Population of the United States.
Dialog is being blocked with only Conservative dialog being presented in the media. Open and liberal dialog is the ONLY answer to all the mysteries in government.

Political Mysteries
Submitted on August 1st, 2007 by AmericanGhost1969I was not impressed with the first televised Democratic discussion, nor the UTube event. Yes, notably Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were front and center.
I also noticed that when you answered a question about bringing our troops home, the other candidates became uncomfortable. They reminded me of "children being chastised by a teacher". I for one know that the Pentagon could have very easily began troop withdrawal this year in April. The Pentagon has a budget and at that point in time, our troops were funded through July. The money could have been used to bring them home.
Americans also know that the troops receive only a small fraction of the money approved by Congress. So the media's idea of "withholding funds from the troops" is bogus. The majority of the money is going to the oil contractors in Iraq, building a US Embassy with enslaved people from other countries, and to an extremely limited Iraqi government already riddled with corruption.
I was disappointed that other issues, such as border security, illegal immigration, health care and education were carefully avoided by the candidates. It was obvious that the "corporate filter" previewed and chose which questions to air.
The American people by far are more politically savvy than they've ever been. Quite literally, the "face" of politics is changing. What worked in the past will not work in the 2008 election. None of these candidates have a clue as to what really concerns the average working class American citizen. It's going to take someone who is willing to do more than shake hands and hug babies. We need someone who's willing to "put their ear to the ground" and get a "pulse on reality."
It will take more than a change in the Presidency to put America back on track. It's time for a "reality check" in Washington, DC. All those willing to work for $7.25 an hour with one week's vacation after a year, pay for their own health care, drive an economy car, send all illegals back to their own country, and bring back jobs to America will be eligible. No more pandering to big corporations, Wall Street and special interest groups who line your coffers with taxpayer dollars. Only those who are willing to represent the American people and who meet these qualifications need apply. We the people will give you the same consideration that you've given us.
Of all the candidates on both sides of the aisle, the only "straight talk" I've heard has come from you. You've jump started the heartbeat of America!
It's being up front, honest and sincere that will win you the presidency!

Letter I wrote to CNN, and All Presidential Candidates
Submitted on July 26th, 2007 by TWindelbornBefore I continue, I'd like to note the candidates who do not list an email address for people like me to talk to them, they only offer 'contact forms': Hillary Clinton(both her senate site, and her campaign site), John Edwards, Bill Richardson, Barack Obama, Chris Dodd. I appreciate the courtesy that you three candidates have shown me by not forcing me to copy and paste into web forms.
First, I'd like to cover what the bias on CNN is; CNN is owned by AOL/Time Warner. Now I'd like to explore which candidates (democratic) have significant support from AOL/Time Warner and its employees for this particular presidential campaign (as opposed to career totals), let's explore some inarguable information:
Barack Obama: $107,751 (Viacom $80,399) – 15 minutes 11 seconds of speaking time – 1st
Hillary Clinton: $103,200 (Viacom $93,200) – 12 minutes 26 seconds of speaking time – 2nd
Bill Richardson: $18,300 – 9 minutes 18 seconds of speaking time – 4th
John Edwards: $2,300 (From President of HBO) – 10 minutes 30 seconds of speaking time – 3rd
It's strange the way that worked, isn't it? (Sarcasm doesn't have the same impact in print, I know).
IT IS NOT STRANGE, IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE!
Second, let me say that I contacted Anderson Cooper at CNN, and used some choice words to express my disgust at the inequality of time given to each candidate at this debate. I would have the same choice words for the 4 candidates taking money from CNN's parent company; but I have more respect for them than I do for Anderson Cooper. For them, I say SHAME ON YOU for spreading the stereotype that politicians have to be corrupt. God bless you Mr. Gravel for having the courage to call out the other candidates for getting money from the very people that enslave people like me (I pay for my college education, and I pay interest to CITIGROUP for that education). I would also like to say that Mr. Kucinich and Mr. Gravel are the only candidates with an acceptable funding base; it's quite interesting that they also have the smallest funding base, and the least amount of time to speak tonight. I also wonder what Hillary, Barack, Bill, and John agreed to in order to get this money.
Furthermore, I would like to say that I am now creating presidential 'trading cards' which list, in an easily readable format, the top sources of funding for each candidate. I will be passing these cards out to EVERYONE I see. I will also be making available on my website a 2 page PDF file that will offer the cards in an easily printable format for others to do the same. I will not be selling these cards; this will be a gift from me to those 2 candidates which are actually 'clean'. It is my goal to aid in any way I can, the defeat of these candidates that steal from me and others like me who do not invest in the stock market or in corrupt 401k programs. FRONT OF CARD SHEET/BACK OF CARD SHEET. (DRAFTS)
As a proud American, let me just say that CNN and YouTube have done a GREAT disservice to the people tonight. This is shameful, and is the validation of the incredible corporate power in our government, and in our voting process.
Fascism doesn't work for America.

Very Interesting, but Not Surprising!
Submitted on July 26th, 2007 by JaywinIt should also be noted that Obama & Hillary (who got the most amount of money) were in the middle...
Richardson & Edwards who ranked 3 & 4 in the amount of money were placed to the right and left of center stage...
Kucinich & Gravel who got the least amount of money were placed on the ends.
I guess Mike will have to win the lottery or something so he can purchase that center position in future debates!

Submitted on July 25th, 2007 by RudyI had a list of candidate names and as I watched the debate I scored each candidate. I was surprised that Sen. Gravel wasn't allowed much space to talk and I wanted to hear more from this man whom when given an oppertunity BLASTED the Democrat and Republican spin machines and brought forth the truth that it's all politics as ususal . I feel it's time for a change, Sen Gravel seems like the only person in the whole debate who stood out and on his own. All the others were eerily the same ol' same ol' as I have heard the past few decades. Gravel stood out like a beacon of light. What can I do to help get this non-conforming stand-alone elected!! Send me a yard sign or something!!! One - of - a -kind. I'm curious to know who he will select as a running mate.

I get tempted to turn it on because I heard Paula Z. quit or was fired (wonder what that was all about) but I don't. I just dont want to give them the idea they have ratings when I am hoping they have lost alot of ratings. One thing about writing all these letters I am total up for it but.... We did do that the last time around and obviously they don't care about 10,000 people or even 100,000 we are a very small percent of the population. I think we should start looking at the local level. If you can get 3or 4 local media outlets to invite Gravel then maybe he will come. It will also show people that he cares for them enough to come to their town. Thanks

Real Issues Being Ignored By All Candidates!
Submitted on July 21st, 2007 by nailpounderThe political emphasis being given to the Iraq war is diverting attention from other more fundamentally important issues, such as reversing the 30+ years of economic, social, and political depredations heaped upon the American working class by both Republicans and Democrats. The greatest threat confronting Americans is the ideology of corporatism. It is corporatism that controls the media, government and political discourse in this country. It is corporatism that guides the direction of this country in every manner of domestic and foreign policy. It is corporatism that fuels such misguided exploits as the Iraq war. It is corporatism that relegates every American worker to being nothing more than a commodity. More American workers are killed or maimed every year in workplace accidents than the American casualties in two Iraq wars. Just some food for thought.

Strategies to Exclude
Submitted on July 20th, 2007 by djmartin1976It is not at all surprising that political candidates, and politicians in general, attempt to maintain as much of their control as possible, while excluding alternative viewpoints with great help from deep-pocket contributors and the media. With regard to the comments made by two other candidates to exclude others in future debates, it is clear that they feel threatened by Mike Gravel's and other candidates' honest insights and critical analyses of their positions. The attention given to polls, endorsements, financial contributions, and strategic comments, just to name a few, have been mistakenly offered as what is important in this election. However, the more critical questions are: What is your record? What is your vision? How, specifically, are you going to implement your plans? Can you demonstrate strong adherence to your values without being influenced (corrupted) by financial contributions? I would argue that Mike Gravel has answered these questions effectively and in the affirmative. I am fed up with the negative influence of "big money politics" and with political commentators, media representatives, and various self-interested organizations that force feed us with what people of this country should think. It is for these reasons that I am encouraged by Mike Gravel's participation in this process.

This is no doubt NOT the last of the "interesting" character traits we will be treated to should Billary become the next scion of our ruling classes... am I the only one who has done the math: if she is selected then we will be facing years seventeen to twenty (plus) of leadership by members of a small elite cadre of east coast power brokers who differ only in the color of their ceremonial tunics. Using the term leadership in the pejorative, and very generously, at that.
Of course her and "millionaire former trial lawyer turned peoples politician" want a smaller, more "serious" group - read: we can't have the truth being spoken during our carefully choreographed nationally televised Murdoch endorsed chorus of lies. Primary
Submitted on July 20th, 2007 by tjpWell if he makes it to the primary in Nebraska, he will have my vote. But in my opinion, if things don't change he will not be on the ballot here.
He can do all the right things, have the right ideas and have support from a group of people, but without the million of dollars to buy the air time on tv, he will never get the coverage in the news that will bring him to the attention of the couch bound, lazy American voter who basically does what what he thinks everyone else is doing, and at this point, he thinks everyone else is supporting Hillary or someother big name.
The only way Sen Gravel can get the name recognition is to do something really out there. Something so different and news making that people will stand up and take notice.
In the mean time, I saw Hillary mentioned 5 times tonight on the news, Obama 4 and other candidates atleast 3.. Mike Gravel? Not once, again.
The "news" media do not report news. They sell advertisements.

I can show you how to prove that to yourself.
Stop watching TV "news", stop listening to radio "news" and stop reading "news" papers and magazines.
It's amazing how your perspective becomes open to the possibility of realizing that the mainstream infotainment media are totally irrelevant.

Submitted on July 20th, 2007 by liquified visceraThat's exactly what someone should see and say when examining Mike Gravel's progress to date. Nicely stated, Bosoxdad.
But we have a frightening new bit of dictatorship from Mr Bush. Go see my posts at my blog starting at very very early this morning.
Mike Gravel's campaign can have its assets STOLEN by Mr Bush's government if Mr Bush believes that Mike Gravel is "threatening" the stability of the puppet regime we installed in Iraq.
Not only that, but ANYONE who is said by Mr Bush to be threatening his "work" in Iraq can have his/her assets seized.
And on top of that, any of us who can be seen as such a "threat" can be imprisoned without justification, without rights. Can be tortured. Can be "disappeared." And nobody has any legal protection. NOBODY.
The time is upon us to act decisively, to stand up against Mr Bush and his gang of violent criminals.
Thanks for the kind words,

Here's another bit of analysis that reveals why the Democrats don't listen to us average not-even-remotely rich folks any more --

also,
The blogs of Chris Floyd and Winter Patriot are very good for objective analysis of what's happening.

Democratic Nomination
Submitted on July 19th, 2007 by tjpMike, Stop trying to get the Democratic Nomination. Spend your LIMITED money and resources on getting on the ballots of all the states as an Independent.
Also talk to Ron Paul. Work as a team and continue your great plans to fix the nation together.
