CNN and YouTube.com are teaming up to host the next Democratic Presidential Forum on Monday, July 23 at 7 p.m EST, which will be broadcast live from the Citadel in Charleston, S.C. Senator Gravel is proud to be a part of this historic debate. So tune in to cheer on the Senator as he demonstrates his strong leadership to the nation and speaks truth to power!

Submitted on July 26th, 2007 by kidcodeaThat was a debate?
Gloria Vanderbilt son produced the Obama & Hillary show not a debate.
How can america proclaim not to say enforce, for other countries, the democracy they dont have. That cnn show looked like a 3rd world dictatorship court.
It would be a national scandal in any european country to have a debate where SOME candidates are simply ignored as if they aren't there, and cant touch all the questions.
i can understand giving more time to "major media" candidates and less time to "lesser known" on the basis of ratings criteria, but NEVER would IN ANY DEMOCRATICAL COUNTRY debate members not have a chance to speak about all the issues.
gravel was the most hurt of all with little time and little questions but in the little time and few oportunities he had , he did great, made me proud to be human, and did a few great soundbites. Coz thats all they allowed him to. And the moment of the night is his also, when he faced a poisoned question (the only containing a veiled insult "flipflop")
keep it up mr balls of steel. if america doesnt love you, you can be sure others do.
Unfortunately for the world, its important how USA swings, and you could make a difference for the better.

He's also reusing an argument used by Mr. Gravel against Clinton regarding her signing of the war authorization. And they say Gravel is crazy! Then again, it's not that surprising... It was Gandhi who said: First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.
The fight has yet to begin. It looks like they'll go after one another first.

Submitted on July 25th, 2007 by johncanteeshey everyone I'm the guy that asked Gravel the question abotu Vietnam that that answered very well unlike Obama and Edwards who kind of danced around the issue.
Here's the clip from the debate!
Who all saw this and what did you think of his answer?
btw, I wasn't trying to challenge Gravel! I support him 100% and I just wanted to give him a question that I knew he would handle much better than the other candidates, showing off his knowledge and passion.
hey guys
Submitted on July 25th, 2007 by Déjà FuI served two tours in the Vietnam war. Every soldier knew it was futile; every American who died there died in vain. What they died for was dogmatic political myth. WHY they died was because they were good soldiers, just like our mates in Iraq. The only ones responsible - the Vietnam war presidents and politicians - never apologized. After all, they personally made millions from it. The psychology is simple - make heros of the fallen, play the patriot card, ignore the inconvenient truth, and the public will simply come to the parade. Mike gave the only true answer. It was disgusting to hear the "top runners" equivocate and play "look at me" with CNN's help.
It's good to see young people like yourself with some clarity of thought, John. I hope you can infect many others with it.

Submitted on July 25th, 2007 by pandakimI emailed CNN (again!) and voiced my frustrations about the lack of time given to Mr. Gravel. And then I went time.com and noticed a time card reporting on last nights debate. Of course they started with Barack (A-) and ended with Mike (D). And they also have a poll on their front page asking who won last night's debate- they list four candidates and guess who they were??? Hillary, Barack, Edwards and Biden. Shocking!! I emailed TIME (letters@time.com) and I suggest you do the same. Here's the email I sent:
"You have a poll on your front page asking who won last night's You Tube debate. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards or Joe Biden. In that order. And that's it. Um, call me crazy but what about the other four candidates? Oh, I forgot- they're not real candidates. Because they don't have the money backing them. The money from companies like yours. It's no surprise the CNN debates have been biased. They're in bed with you! Why do you get to decide who the "real" candidates are? I've lost all faith in mainstream media. I don't know how you sleep at night. I really don't."

2) JOE from MSNBC
Thank you again for standing out and being the most fair reports to date=)
P.S. I now only watch MSNBC, I suggest everyone stops watching CNN and go to a place where there really may be accurate news. Oh sorry and the local BOSTON news that allow Gravel to speak to the people and didn't even interupt him.

Submitted on July 25th, 2007 by RydaxI talked to the girls for The Morning Show on myspace two days ago, and they told me they are already working on having Mike back on the show. They have offered a full hour of uninterrupted air time to any candidate who wants it. Turns out all of the others have reasons they can't do it. Paul has too many prior commitments and doesn't have the time, I forget the other excuses. I got them to vote for Mike on the face book poll and they also voted on the blog for Iowa thing. They seem like some really good people. I think they started out just wanting to give everyone a fair chance, but when the others ignored an avoided them, I think Mike is looking better and better to them.

Morning rock radio
Submitted on July 24th, 2007 by RydaxSo I come into work this morning(the day after the youtube debate) and I heard something good on the radio. I work in a factory, it's noisy but we have a little radio, always on the local classic rock station. As I get to my work area I hear the radio doing a little news bite on the debate. I couldn't hear it clearly and my memory is a little hazy that early but the woman said something to the extent of "Not everyone was happy about the way way the debates were set last night, former Senator Mike Gravel got noticeably less time in the debates and was not happy." Again I have no idea what the words were but I know she mentioned Mike and the fact that the debates were ridiculously biased against him. What a way to start my morning!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you hear Gravel mention HEDGE FUNDS, in the second half hour?
The HEDGE FUNDS are for illegal bettors to play investor, to enable them to manipulate and control our illegal economy FOR YEARS, knowing the fat power deals of 2001 incited bin Laden in detail, while burying the mission plans under 15 FED hikes finished the election, as of 2006!
By finished I mean THE ELECTORAL PROCESS IS FLAT-OUT ILLEGAL, today.
Gravel may be the ONLY legally entitled candidate, in the slate!
Republicans who are WORSE than Goldwater Girl HRC or Bushwick Boy Obama are evident, from their hedging on the illegal BUDGETING, for illegal GANG WAR.
That the Senate is uninsurable by 2010 should be evident to most, but note that MIKE GRAVEL may be the ONLY candidate from either major party, who cannot be impeached, right AFTER an election or BARRED, right before an election, for taints.
If you are TAINTED and the 2008 crash happens, YOU SENATORS had better have an excuse, for letting the books cook, since the fat power deals, of 2001, to then BURN them, with 15 interest hikes from the fat FED, during GANG WARS over drugs, energy, and Islam. USCA 1 is violated wholesale, by Christians and incited Jews, hacking away at islam, illegally funded, since 1948, illegally in colllusion with religious and corporate media, SINCE WHENEVER, tainted despicably.
The persistent GANG WARS masked as public policy mark 2008 as THE YEAR for reform. As in, REFORM, OR ELSE THE CHINESE AND OTHER INTERNATIONAL BANKERS CAN LIEN THE HELL OUT OF US, IN 2009, DDs and your kids! School's OUT, for YOU.
Your standing army violated the commerce clause one too many budgets, so learn to like online ed, broadband media, to heck with YOU and YOUR Mexican schoolchums, get the flu on your own time, WITHOUT ILLEGALLY FUNDED, COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE, TO HELP YOU CHURN UP PESTS, AND WITHOUT FUNDS FOR PESTHOLES.
We are ONE good 42 U.S.C. 1983 lawsuit away, from Gravel walks into the White House, or don't you sue? 28 U.S.C. 2254 or 2255 habeas may be enough, to convince a USDC Judge to issue order for CONTEMPT TRIALS! Or, we watch the USA fall apart, without a President to help catch the pieces, and THAT IS MIKE GRAVEL.

New to Gravel
Submitted on July 24th, 2007 by chellemckayLast Night:
I tune in a little late to the "YouTube" debate on CNN. There are the usual suspects, some I like, most I don't.......but wait......who is this Gravel guy?
Holy cow! He's.....making sense! He's..........passionate! He's........RIGHT! And I don't mean that he is just correct, I mean he is RIGHT...for America.
While Obama dodged questions and Hillary changed her opinions (again!), while Richardson sweated his makeup onto his collar and touted the rights of the illegals, actually calling them AMERICANS at one point (which they are NOT, not yet, anyway), there is this Gravel guy, telling it like it has been begging to be told for years now. And I am wondering why I have not heard of him until now, chiding myself for not being more informed, and then he said it. And IT went something like this:
If you want to know what life will be like with any of these other candidates in office, follow the money trail.
Wow! Someone actually said it! I mean, I am paraphrasing, but that was what I took from it. These candidates are funded by Wall Street, and that's who they dance for! They don't care about you, or me, or the soldiers or the guy who lost his job because we gave it to someone in China....they dance with the dollars who brung them.
We need a President in our White House, not a celebrity. Gravel will have my vote!!!
Question posed at 7-23-07 debate
Submitted on July 24th, 2007 by christinSenator Gravel,
I was disappointed that you weren't chosen to answer the question: "If you HAD to pick any Republican member of Congress or Republican governor to serve as your running mate... Who would it be?" I was especially hoping to hear your answer on that, but -- as usual -- the best questions are offered only to corporatist candidates. Of the Republicans currently serving as congressmen or governors, which one would you choose to be your running mate if you had no other option?

Submitted on July 24th, 2007 by speckhardThank you for your no nonsense approach to the problems in Washington. It's refreshing to see a politician go after his fellow politicians for their self serving actions, i.e.. special interest funding.
I feel you are a man apart from what both parties have become today. I pray that more Americans such as yourself step forward and work to save our nation from politicians who's only interest is that of themselves, their poll rating and how much money they can make.
Keep doing what your doing people are starting to notice! I can tell you this life long republican has and you have my full support!

Submitted on July 24th, 2007 by quest67CNN - YouTube Debate
Submitted on July 25th, 2007 by Jason MeansTonights debate was such a farce. I honestly thought that the format presented would have favored Mike. Unfortunately, politics/media as usual came into play and Mike was left holding the bag. I think that Mike's "potted plant" comment from the first Democratic debate served to be true even more so during this debate. Clinton, Obama and Edwards were catered to at every opportunity.
CNN should be ashamed of themselves for playing into the hands of the big money contenders and not presenting a fair platform as promised for all candidates to express their views. I can only hope that Mike can use this lack of attention to his favor.
Mike still remains strong in my mind, and I hope that other Americans can weed through this poor media coverage to see his strengths as the best candidate for president.

The always passionate Mike Gravel
Submitted on July 24th, 2007 by Phil SchulloMike,
I once again tuned into tonight's debate to see you put the other candidates in their place. I was disappointed but not surprised to see you ignored for most of the debate. However, when you did speak, I think your message was lost. Your passion is to be commended, but when you raise your voice and point your finger at the other candidates, you come off as being belligerent (the antithesis of your message). In your one-on-one interviews, you've been calm and collected in your responses. I feel that approach is much more effective at conveying your message. I want other voters to understand your platforms without fear that you are a man driven entirely by emotion. Please consider taking a more tempered approach at the next debate.
Thanks for listening.

Submitted on July 24th, 2007 by blueyes20Someone on myspace said" you noticed whenever Gravel spoke they zoomed way in on his face" This I think was the way they wanted to make him look even more angry than if they were 4 feet away. It is a political scam brought up by Hillary and the gang to eliminate the bottom contenders. Specially Gravel, I truly feel that all the elites in this country are very scared of Gravel and will stop at nothing to see him go down. He threatens everything they have worked for for the last 60 years. Mike is a very striaght forward guy his answers only take about 10 to 15 sec where the other candidates have to tap dance. I get what u mean though the media set him up for the reaction then zoomed in to make it look even worst than it really was.
They do it on purpose
Submitted on July 24th, 2007 by Mike and LoriI don't have any tv stations and am on dial-up so I didn't have the opportunity to watch this debate, but I did get to read the transcripts. It's sooo obvious who CNN is behind..
They deliberately put Mike on the spot and try to make him seem like something he isn't. Imigine being in Mike's position. Up there on stage and knowing that, yet again, they are going to try to ignore you during a "debate" (if you can call them that) and you won't be given a chance to respond to questions that address the issues you truly stand for. It would piss me off, too! Mike has to take every opportunity he is given to wake people up and try to get his message across. That's pretty hard to do when you are only given the piddley questions and are being rushed to boot!
I am outraged at the way these CNN "debates" are being handled. As Americans we have a right to choose for ourselves who we want to vote for, therefore, we should be given the opportunity to HEAR each and every candidates opinions on each and every question. And all should be given the same amount of time. They don't let Senator Gravel have the time he needs, no DESERVES, because they know he will raise questions and get people thinking. That's dangerous! Can't have the Sheeple "thinking" for themselves, now can we.
This debate was an excellent idea, but they screwed the whole thing up and turned it into a sham!
Perhaps Senator Gravel will take the questions that were asked during this debacle, write his responses and make them available to print and hand out.
Don't let them get you down, Mike! One of the many things I love about you is that you have proven that when you are passionate about something you believe in, you stick with it until you get the results you're after.
I THINK for myself - I'm voting for Mike!
