Mike Gravel made such an impression in the first Democratic debate last week that his name is the 15th most popular search in the blogosphere.
Furthermore, the most popular video clip among bloggers is Gravel saying Congress should make it a felony for the United States to stay in Iraq. At mid-day, Technorati reports 59 blogs have linked to the clip in the last 48 hours, for a total of 151 links overall.
Some of what bloggers are saying: " He's no kook" and His speaking style is very forceful."
For those still unfamiliar with this White House hopeful, Gravel is the long-ago senator from Alaska whose name is pronounced gra-vell' .
He's also the one who, during the Thursday night debate, said he is scared by some of his rivals. Pressed to say who, he replied, "The popular ones."

So far it looks as if they
Submitted on May 4th, 2007 by Tantroo_McNallySo far it looks as if they are suffering from foot in mouth syndrome. But I guess it may seem rude to a journalist who is too used to seeing people follow Nixon's Republican commandment on both sides of the fence.
Even if we should fail, let the ideals live on.

I have only One Word 4 U-- "PERMINDEX" ... I can take You down the Rational Path of Today's Iraq Engagement and Directly compare it's Birth & Demise to the Vietnam War in Southeast Asia begun in the Early 1960s... and more Horrorific than that-- Who was Responsible for the Events of November 22, 1963 and Why? NSAM 263 was Issued in October 1963... Does this Action Ring a Bell?

I seriously Hope that you Now have Secret Service Protection as a Presidential Candidate. Since you have Confronted the Military Complex on National TV during a Debate, They need to Add (9) Times more Protect than you are hopefully receiving at this Moment.

Clinton and Obama Raiding Donors Who Backed Bush
Submitted on May 1st, 2007 by BigMikeFrom the New York Sun:
As senators Clinton and Obama crisscross the country seeking the Democratic presidential nomination and sharply criticizing President Bush, they have been collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars from donors who funded one or both of Mr. Bush's campaigns for the White House.

Let's get together and clean house!
Submitted on May 1st, 2007 by BigeyeI too was an outspoken protester of the Vietnam debacle where the idiocy of the War
Party of those days resulted in the deaths of 58,000 young Americans and 2-3 million civilians, mostly poor peasants. The American public was lied to by our top governmental leaders, for political reasons, long before we were able to stop the carnage.
Watching Senator Gravel's participation in the debate gave me a new lease on life.
Mike's platform positions reflect precisely my views today. In a couple of weeks I
celebrate my 74th birthday and oversee a couple of significant websites which now
strongly support Mike Gravel for President: The Big Eye -- http://bigeye.com and
NewsWatch -- http://newswatch.org
I believe in national defense; not globalization and democratization, modern euphemisms for imperialism (which is as old as empire). A Gravel presidency will go a long way toward restoring the admiration of America and its people that was formerly held by a majority of the world's peoples. The need for such a change is critical, if only from the standpoint of self-preservation.
We are sick and tired of politics as usual. These clowns who dance to the tune of money and power are killing us. Go Mike!
Colbert Report?

Wow!
Submitted on May 1st, 2007 by owlish7I missed most of the debate, but my ears really perked up when I heard Senator Gravel. A real human in the debate who can reach folks!!! The shock lasted for the weekend. Laura Flanders and Jon Elliot broadcasted exactly what I knew when I heard you. I told my co-workers and my husband about how you spoke your mind. Our world desperately needs a leader and you're it. I offer my time, my donations, my support. Wow.
As (un)usual?
Submitted on May 1st, 2007 by phooeyMr. Gravel,
I have read, listened to, and watched everything you have ever done - albiet, I only started since the Democratic Debate. Sir, you are not only going to get the nomination, you deserve the nomination.
Furthermore, I have donated once, and I will donate again. Anymore, and I'm sure I will exceed some campaign contribution law.
You absolutely, unequivocally, and fundamentally deserve not just the nomination, but the presidency. Sir, I will vote, donate, support, et cetera whatever it takes to take you the distance.
You, not Congress, are our only hope to end this carnage (unfortunately, not before Jan. 20th, '09).
Oh, and I certainly don't mind empowering the people as lawmakers, either. You, sir, rock the house.
Keep it up.
