Pointless?

So, not only does the media blackout Gravel's speech on this subject (which probably would've gotten decent ratings), but this website hasn't even provided a video.  There is none to be found on the net.  What was the point of the speech?

I must admit, I don't think those in the campaign camp are doing a satisfactory job.  Gravel needs dedicated and competent people on his side if he is to have a chance as such a financial underdog.  I continue to be disappointed in the limited efforts being made to overcome the media blackout.

I wonder if more people who reside near the Gravel HQ are able to volunteer their time and up the staffing level.

edit:  I see someone just provided a video.  Thanks a bunch!

We need you to whip us into shape!

Guess that video didn't get up soon enough for you, Dustin D Wind.

I complained several times

But to no avail. They keep promising to post videos etc, but not a huge improvement. I must say though, they had only asked for $35,000 for May. Is this indicative of the campaign not being able to afford enough personall ?

Hopefull, the unexpectedly large amount they received this month can go towards hiring some folks. But really, this will only really take off if and when there is sustained improvement, in contributions and exposure. These two are symbiotic. With the lack of information about what goes on in the background, it's difficult to judge them.

Tough to call. But we should keep pestering them. And if not, help them.

We hear you guys.

Working hard to get videos rolling.

Senator Gravel at the National Press Club Withdrawal From Iraq

I posted the press release and it has attracted quite a few viewers so far. Here it is. Try digging it etc.

Press Release Coverage

Hi, could someone please tell me what went on today? Did the press meeting take place? How come there isn't any press coverage? Was there any kind of reaction? I would have thought this would be all over the place.

Keep Pushing

Many people are beginning to think Mike is one of the few who makes any sense. thank you Mike.

I think it is time to let the Democrats know they cannot serve two masters. They can serve the people from which they receive their legitimate power, or they can serve the interest of corporate money, but they cannot serve both.

We already know which the Republican Administration and most of the Republican officials have chosen to serve. The last anti-trust suit was when?

the Republican Way--Doolittle & Delay

Fool you once, shame on them.

Fool you twice, shame on you.

Fool you thrice, Hellooooooo!

Just checkin' in...from Lieberland in CT. Need I say more?

I went into the Democratic Debate as an Edwards' supporter.  In fact, I'd not even known that Senator Gravel was running and I consider myself fairly well informed.  However, each time he spoke, I wanted to get up and give him a standing ovation - why?  He spoke truth and he had the ***** to confront each and every one of them.  As a registered lifelong Dem, I'd come to the conclusion after following facts for the last 7 years, that they're really all the same and all in it together.  Until. I. Heard. Senator. Gravel. speak.

I'm not quite ready to endorse anyone at this point as it's so early but I do know that I'm presently not comfortable w/all I'm seeing from the candidates thus far.  And I'm BEYOND disgusted with the current non-administration.  I want someone to come along who can make me believe in America again.  So, here I am.  Will that be you, Senator Gravel?

Public Radio

I'm a contributor to public radio, and will be listening to see if they give this good and fair coverage.  The media really does have the ability to "pick the candidates".  I wish I had 100 million dollars to give to Mike, so we could get past this fundraising popularity contest and actually have the candidates judged on the ISSUES! Mike will win on the issues any day of the week!

Thank you, Senator Gravel!

This is a great piece of legislature and I hope they listen to it. However, I am afraid that the real reasons for staying Iraq involves the oil issue and the fact that billions of US tax dollars have been sunk into long term "air force" bases over there. Remember how we established US military army posts and air force bases all over Europe after WWII? It's being done in Iraq and other countries and that's not gotten alot of publicity. The neocons have long, long term designs on the middle east that involved placing deep roots and tentacles into the ground over there.

I'm glad you are sticking your neck out for all of us! I remember you when you were a Senator in Alaska. I was just a kid but I remembered your name from so long ago when I first heard you were going to run for president this year. Your efforts are appreciated again!

The war in Iraq is a Cash Cow for the War Lobby

The war in Iraq is a Cash Cow for the War Lobby and therefore for the recipients of its largess : the 535 enemies of the people in Washington DC who are seeking to make a "long war" of this. Who are seeking to milk it for all we are worth.

By my count 425 more Americans have died since the Demoplican takeover of the Congress. Counting the Iraqis that have died is much harder, but you can be sure its at least an order of magnitude greater, more likely two orders of magnitude, 42,500.

And the Demoplicans are doing their best at this point to work with the recalcitrant president to keep the war on track. Their goal is a piece of paper they hope to extract from the puppet government in Iraq that the Oil Lobby will use as justification to take control of the Iraqi oil fields, to institutionalize injustice in Iraq.

It's going to be a "long war" of our own to wrest back control of our government from the military industrial complex, aka the War Lobby. Their vision for America is the same Neocon vision already implemented in Israel : perpetual warfare in defense of injustice. Can anything be more abominable than that?

Our only hope is to force the 535 to end the war and the only proposal to do that is Mike's, so I'm gearing up to support it, to make it mine.

Major player's in the Oil grab ?

JFL: good post! Try CNN on cable for coverage of the Press Club, they usually cover it.

I think that if you look close enough, you'l find the major mover's and shaker's of this are International in scope, the Rothschilds Banking Group, Goldman Sachs, and the same player's that participate in the annual Bilderberg confab, European in flavor. They are meeting in Turkey this year, I'm sure sure that if they are true to form, they will have discussed this as an option, or will propose it. It makes's sense to take Iraq Oil off line, as the European Oligarcy are the main players in the International Oil Market, BP Shell, etc, etc. I'm going to follow up on your reference's.

A Man With a Plan

Not the Nixon-esk or Romney teaser type where they say they have a plan, but won't tell - no sir! Just one of the many, many things I LOVE about Gravel.

I listened to the Dissent Radio interview today and enjoyed hearing about even MORE things I can't believe somebody is actually talking about:

http://www.dissentradio.com/radio/07_05_07_gravel.mp3

I had no idea that Gravel went to the Supreme Court, that would speak out against sanctions on Iran (when nobody has really bothered to even mention it happened), and the explanation of how the National Initiative would work to eliminate the force of lobbyists and corporations over citizenry - that was brilliant!

I keep hearing people talk about how that is such a scary idea, but I know exactly what he is talking about. I dropped out of high school and much to my surprise my grandfather told me, I understand, these days they treat you like children and expect you to behave like adults. You'll find another way." Sure enough I found myself a B student for the very first time when I was in college.

As long as we are treated like children, we will behave like it. Americans are lazy with the system because we have no responsibilities. In a land where we can sue anybody for something we did, because nobody told us NOT to put the dog in the microwave... well, you get the point I'm sure.

I already told all my east coast friends about the DC appearance, posted all over My Space (and other places like forums), and contacted several radio stations to encourage them to have Gravel on.

The buzz is getting louder - keep it up everybody!

The BearingPoint Oil Law

In Iraq the IFOU is going on strike on Monday just as Mike Gravel unveils our draft legislation to bring Americans back from Iraq, ending the war.

Iraqi Union Set to Strike over Oil Law

Iraq’s largest oil workers’ trade union will strike [Monday, 14 May], in protest at the controversial oil law currently being considered by the Iraqi parliament. The move threatens to stop all oil exports from Iraq. The Oil Law proposes giving multinational companies the primary role in developing Iraq’s huge untapped oilfields, under contracts lasting up to 30 years. Oil production in Iraq, like in most of the Middle East, has been in the public sector since the 1970s. “The federation calls on all unions in the world to support our demands and to put pressure on governments and the oil companies not to enter the Iraqi oil fields.

The Oil Law is the product of BearingPoint, a company risen from the ashes of Arthur Andersen, Enron's partner in crime. The draft law was shown to US government and major oil companies in July, 2006. It was shown to the International Monetary Fund September, 2006. It was shown to the Iraq puppet government in February, 2007. The Demoplican bill authorizing funds for the prosecution of the war in Iraq includes a requirement for passage of the BearingPoint Oil Law. Check out the BearingPoint Law for yourself.

I hope that Mike takes a moment to denounce the rape of Iraq's "patrimony" by the Demoplican legislation when he outlines ours!

Analysis: Iraq funding bill too oily

United Press International made numerous requests to ask House Appropriations Committee Chairman Dave Obey, D-Wis., about the oil benchmark but received no response. His committee drafted the language. When House Democrats asked him about the issue in a private meeting this week, The Politico reports, he cussed them out.
Michael Eisenscher, national coordinator for U.S. Labor Against the War, said the supplemental passage means Congress is "complicit in what amounts to a backdoor privatization of most of Iraq's oil reserves." USLAW, an umbrella group representing affiliates here with more than 5 million members, is in regular contact with Iraq's unions.

Solidarity with the IFUO!

Solidarity with USLAW!

Solidarity with the innocent Iraqi people!

Solidarity with the American forces in Iraq - "stop lossed", overextended, bearing the brunt of the abuse dished out by the Neocons of both parties - abandoned to murder or be murdered in Iraq!

Good Plan, JFL

Sounds like a good plan, JFL.  I'm very curious to see if the media will have "caught on" by Monday, that Senator Gravel is a story that they will benefit from taking notice of.

As hard as the Media is trying to ignore Senator Gravel and Dr. Paul (and they are trying VERY hard), in spite of their very high poll and approval ratings, it is still obvious when looking at the candidate and opinion polls that they DO report, that SOMETHING is missing from the story.  That SOMETHING is the "DOUBLE DIGIT ACTUAL" ratings of both Senator Gravel, and Dr. Paul.  For example...this morning, CNN showed only 2 parts of one poll, showing equal approval ratings of 35% and 35% for the Executive plan for troop withdrawl, and the Congress's proposed ideas.

This means that a minimum of 30% of America is completely prepared for another plan, and undoubtedly more are just as willing to hear other ideas.  My prediction...Senator Gravels press anouncement on Monday will bring attention to every venue that airs it.  If that means "YOUTUBE" first, then the mainstream media will just have to scramble for an excuse after the fact.  But I don't think they're foolish enough to not take notice, honestly.  Media will be there, and they'll "cautiously" bring light to it, carefull not to critisize too harshly for fear of marginalizing themselves.  They already learned that lesson from the Democratic debate.

Let me also say...way to follow through on meeting your own date for releasing the plan, Sir.  It's small gestures like that, that mean a great deal to the average American, anxious for progress.

"Let the People Decide"

Eli

I'm eager to read the draft

I'm eager to read the draft and to send it on to my representative Solomon Ortiz and to my Senators John Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchison. As well I will forward it to all my friends for their own edification and delight so that they too, can send it on, each to their own dynamic trio.

I live in Thailand, so I will post just a few copies at strategic places where they might engender questions to which I can supply the answer : Mike Grah-VELL.

I will continue to email a copy of the draft legislation to my trio of legislators on a daily basis, perhaps with a snail mailing once a week. Fax is too expensive to use regularly from Thailand, although it'd be cheaper than the snail in the States, I'd imagine.

Together with the draft itself I will include my exhortation that they pass it as many times as necessary to overide the White House veto.

If the present Demoplican bill should override the White House veto we would have more war, snatched from the veto bin of defeat and brought back to life by the Demoplicans, the war's proud new parents.

When our bill overrides the White House veto we will have no more war, the troops will be home in 60 days, and we can begin picking up the pieces after the orgy of murder and destruction undertaken in our names by the Republicrat-Demoplican complex.

I plan to be there with a

I plan to be there with a video camera. With luck and a light work load I should have a video up on Google Video by the afternoon.

Send 2 bills

Has the senator considered sending 2 bills to congress?1)       Time Limit to get out of IRAQ or go to jail     – OR – 2)       PAYGO - Tax increases on Dividends and Capital Gains to pay for the war AND the debt owed to social security.a.       If he chooses 2) then the Social Security Trust Fund BUYS the federal interstate highway system and turns it into toll roads to secure the future income stream of Social Security beneficiaries. No way will Bush choose the war over all his Trust-Baby supporters.

Leader take the lead

And Senator Mike Gravel is showing that he is a leader by taking action....not just half-measures and concessions to Bush and his criminal willfulness.

Awesome, so the Congress has

Awesome, so the Congress has to pass this on to the Senate right? I can only hope we can count on some good Democrats standing against the President with a majority passing the bill.

Mike Gravel for President in 2008

Will it be televised?

Will it be on the news somewhere?  If so, where and when?

End the war!!!!!!!!!!

Go get'em Mike,Make them pass a law that this war is a crime.Lock up that ass hole Bush and throw away the key. Were all behind you. Good luck!
