Hell Ya

I cant belive this law hasnt been changed yet. I mean it was made a crime based on a list of lies. The US gov made a tax stamp for pot in the 1920s or clamed to have made them.So inorder for the farmer sell his canibis crop he had to take it to the tax office to get that stamp. Then they passed a law saying if you had pot without the stamp you were already in violation of the law and you go to jail. The first man to be arested was a poor farmer. Why did we as Americans alow things like this to go on. Hell our founding fathers were pot heads! The gov and my workplace have NO RIGHT to tell me what I can or cant do on my own time!!

Watch the movie REEFER MADNESS to see all the bullshit lies

Everywhere i go i keep hearing about this subject. Everybody is so pissed off but nobody seems to do anything... narconon

im glad that a future

im glad that a future president finally speaks out about marijuana legalization. mike gravel hit the nail right on the head. its not a drug, its just a health issue (and not much of one at that).

marijuana is safe and even beneficial in many respects. why is it not legal? it all boils down to money. legalizing marijuana will cut into the profits of many major industries and they dont want that. therefore they spread lies and rumors and do all they can to keep marijuana illegal so its not a competition.

fight back! fight for the safe and useful natural plant called marijuana! vote for mike gravel! tell everyone about mike gravel! dont sit on your a**, do something!

f**k yea hes right... all the f**king a**holes are tryign to kep the NATURAL s**t. i know people in iraq that smoke marijuana ,but thats because its benefecial.. i dont see why everyone gives a f**k, as long as people dont smoke adn drive then they are ok . if you really f**king think about it.

If food Franchizes were smart, they would be in favor of this. Because everyone who smokes gets the f**kin munchies. so you need food. food companies could make billions of profit from this. it pisses me off because my father knows alot of cops and law enfocement where i used to live, so i couldnt get away with it. I havent smoked in over a year. but i am going to problably within the next week and a ahlaf when i get some f**king money.I am in school and i am able to type this s**t.... i think that mkike gravel should be the f**king president because he wants to legalize marijuana. My first choice was OBAMA. but since i heard abotu GRAVEL... then i am PRO GRAVEL ALL THE F**KING WAY.!!!

Gravel is for the legalization of marijuana

He couldn't have said it more clearly than he does here, near the end of this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KyFRyxZp-s

Marijuana

Why anybody in their right mind would 'assume' marijuana is a DRUG in the first place is beyond me!!!   Marijuana is a derivative of hemp and hemp has thousands of uses which could be used to make our lives better---The government really needs to own up to the propoganda it put out years ago to"warn parents" of the dreaded drug being passed around called "marijuana" that would turn their children into violent criminals.--What Rot!!!

Marijuana as nicotine, as

Marijuana as nicotine, as alcohol, caffeine, cocaine, and many other is a an addictive drug. This is all I have to know to oppose to it's legalization. I saw marijuana victims and, trust me, they were not OK. Some of my friends needed serious drug rehab to get rid of marijuana addiction.

Sorry, but the victims you

Sorry, but the victims you saw need to take some personal responsibility.  If they can't handle those drugs, then they don't have to take them.  But for the government to decide for everybody that there are certain things that we're not allowed to consume is just ludicrous.

The United States government is not my parents.  It exists to protect my rights and liberties.  Instead, with laws prohibiting the posession and use of drugs, the government tramples on my liberty and self-sovereignty.  It's unconstitutional, ineffective, and downright racist.

Marijuana is a derivative of hemp

If we keep making statements like the one above we not be able to grow hemp which would really be great for the US framers if we could

or use marijuana medically

a yugo is car , a BMW is a car

that is hemp to Marijuana

they are not the same hemp has every every litte THC

Marijauana can have lots of THC

if we can keep them apart we maybe able to win

all the best and be safe

Re: Marijuana legalization

From the perspective of personal Liberty, it is unconstitutional for there to be laws against a person growing any plant they choose on their own property for his/her own personal use. So, it should be perfectly legal for a person to grow marijuana and use it in her/his own home.

I do think that it is Constitutional for the government to control the distribution. However, the way America's draconian laws are set up in the War on Drugs, the weight of the Law is focused more heavily on growing marijuana. In fact, U.S. laws actually encourage people to participate in the black market by alotting only misdemeanor penalities for small amounts of marijuana that have been purchased through illegal distribution; on the other hand, if a person is caught growing even one marijuan plant on their own property with no intent to distribute, they will be charged with a felony crime that carries a much harsher punishment.

Things have really changed

I remember years ago when Smoltz, the mayor of Baltimore wanted to legalize marijuana and make it a public health issue he was laughed out of town. Now we see that he was right. In Baltimore, 90% of those in jail on drug convinctions are black. The war on drugs is, in some ways, a race war.

In world of conflict, victims and executioners, it is the job of thinking people, not to be on the side of the executioners - Camus

The original outlawing of

The original outlawing of marijuana was acomplished because it was a race issue.

Hearst wanted to eliminate the competition from hemp for paper.  He used his papers to print totally fabricated stories of crimes commited by people high on pot.  In the SW & West the stories featured Mexicans raping white women and in the South it was black men.

Hearst was the crook, but the bigots in congress did his dirty work.

The true War on Drugs was created as an excuse to arrest political and enviromental activists.

When they saw how easy the public not only bought the lies, but were willing to give up privacy rights to save their silly asses from the "threat",  The War on Terror was easy.

Legalization of Marijuana

Bout time a candidate demanded legalization. Does this mean that Gravel will inhale in the white house?

Gravel on Marijuana

Senator Gravel's position is to decriminalize and that its foolish to send people to jail for marijuana possession. Drugs are a public health issue, not a criminal issue. The senator recognizes the merit in medical marijuana. Marijuana should be treated like cigarettes and liquor.

What about hemp?

It is completely ridiculous the hemp is illegal to grow in America. Why shouldn't farmers be allowed to grow a plant that is definitely not a drug and which was the backbone of America's economy for nearly 200 years!

In addition, hemp is among the best plants to be found on planet Earth for use in making alternatives to fossil fuels such as bio-mass & bio-diesel.

I think Senator Gravel should have the relegalization of hemp as the backbone of a campaign to save America's family farms.

I completely agree.

I completely agree.

I wonder how big the pot vote is..?

huge

we manage to get out of the house long enough to vote :)

I wonder how big the pot

I wonder how big the pot vote is..?

It's probably huge, I don't know many others besides myself that haven't partaken...

...I've always been for legalizing and taxing the hell out of it though...

The trick is just getting

The trick is just getting cannabis smokers motivated enough to get involved and back a specific candidate. However, this may ostracize Gravel from the pack even more because a lot of people still want not only recreational, but medicinal and industrial forms of cannabis illegal. Why? They're stupid and listen to their government blindly.

I think a lot of pot heads

I think a lot of pot heads are clued in to the truth, but I'm not sure how you're going to get a lot of them off the couch to vote in the primary especially if you put a cheese cake in front of their face ;)

Pot Vote?

I'm more than just a 'casual' pot smoker, and I can't wait for the day its legalized, but Gravel had me hooked on the National Initiative. Thats a plus. I think that drug reform HAS to happen, period. And the fact he wants to go and get that through is beautiful.
